  1. I am getting fed up with getting sms ads on my phone. Today's one particularly annoyed me cause I replied stop to their last message which they have obviously ignored... Can anything be done, like complain to ASA? Anybody tried?
  2. Oh dear, more waffle...
  3. But it could have cost less as a 26er?
  4. To me the whole point of single speed is that nobody should care... I just look at the bike, if it has 1 gear then I have respect for the person, else not. If he has one gear and 29er wheels then I have respect and know he has money... It is about the feeling it gives you when you finish a ride in the same gear you started... like metallica says: nothing else matters My 2c as per usual
  5. Have you tried CTI or CIT or whatever they are called. There are two of them next to each other as you come off the N4 into Schoeman/Pretorius. They stock some oils.
  6. Far as I know you need to sandblast it before you powdercoat and I'm guessing it'll cost around the same as a good spray job. The problem with painting a bike all nice and pretty is that you scared of riding it hard and falling. Rather go and enjoy yourself and at the end of the day who cares what the bike looks like as long as you having fun. Does it have the original paint or is it already a custom job or have the stickers just been taken off?
  7. My experience is to not spray but powdercoat... the stuff is amazing! As for wrapping, you mean like to give it to somebody like a gift? Is a bow not good enough?
  8. Sweet love man. Where did you get the frame?
  9. I feel like this might be ruining the love, but we really want to see it... please share the love (bike)(You can hate the computer)
  10. Picasa has an option under file that says export picture to folder and then it has a slider bar, set it to 800 or so and the size should be less than 1Mb...
  11. Picasa does the best job... Just export to folder.
  12. The screen is the most amazing thing I have ever come across. You can't compare the ipad and kindle but if you are getting an ipad to read books then rather get a kindle. There is no glare and it is just like a real book and no strain on your eyes.
  13. Think his name was Dr Theron at Meulmed in Pretoria... was referred to him by a couple of people when I had issues and have never been back- in htis case a good thing. Sent me to some fancy clinic called DBC which sorted me out no problem with no cutting. I would actually recommend DBC as well they were super professional and specialize in backs and have clinics in a couple of places with super fancy machines... http://www.dbc-sa.co.za/
  14. Hey @IFLY did you get yours yesterday? Very curious... I can't wait for the loaning to start working in SA... Is anybody using Prime? Does it work in this country?
  15. It is possible to heat treat steel to make it harder and thus also more brittle which I suppose is possible in mechanical discs but I doubt the heat transfer is enough to have any noticeable effects. In most cases I think it is strain hardening which is basically what causes a wire to break when you bend it back and forth repeatedly. Thus sharp corners are not good for cables.
  16. I was not expecting what happened at 1:00... Crisis! http://youtu.be/x1MxVE5somE
  17. Ordered a kindle on Friday- arrived today... It went via London... It is truly remarkable in my opinion!
  18. So in July I am going through Russia and Scandinavia and was thinking about bringing some bike bits home. Are there any factories up there where I could get something a lot cheaper? Also stopping in Dubai if there is anything there that is worthwhile, but I doubt it?
  19. My only problem with my Suntour is not being able to get spares... Otherwise haven't had any issues...
  20. Just to clarify.. Cables do stretch... in certain cases, ie a mine, when the wheel stops at the top the people at the bottom are still moving and move by around 10m sometimes. This is a 2km cable though. In a bicycle I seriously doubt a little cable with a safety factor of around 6 is going to stretch... more likely, as has been said, housings wearing in. As to friction... I don't get tired fingers from having to push the levers too hard so can't see any point. My 2c
  21. I have an old Breitling stopwatch lying around, but it is a bit broken, anybody know where I can get it serviced around Pretoria. It is the old windup type...
  22. I think the problem here is taking health advice from a non-referenced website... On a different note... my suuto has a different way of calculating max HR- 207-(0.7x age)... I suppose there are a couple of formulas out there. Looking at it now it is slighly similar to health24's one...
  23. You never know... shops still have prices for fixing punctures and cleaning...
  24. SS: R1.5 Road: R1.2 MTB: R2 The road bike is from the 80's, would be interesting to see what it has done over its whole life... I bought it second-hand.
