I had the bontragers pro elite 30 . The weight is similair probably about 100g heavier. Tyres are the same.
Cool. I suppose it is something you need to feel then. I've never understood the appeal of carbon, but I suppose there must be something...
Bought the Amps 3 weeks ago . They are very very nice. The hubs great and the wheels have stood up to quite a beating so far. My first ever set of carbon hoops but BS aside i can feel they just roll better especialy out of corners. the acceleartion is markedly differrent to ALu.
Interesting... What wheels did you have previously(same weight)? And you running the exact same tires?
I'd definitely do with the SLX. It is on a higher level compared to NX (IMHO), and cheaper.
if you enjoy technical stuff, you can totally ride all the "portage sections", in fact they were the best parts in my opinion. Just don't go full blast the first time down, the rocks can be a bit sketch in places. No jumps (or berms for that matter) that I can recall, just lekker natural stuff.
Totally agree.. the portage sections are awesome!
The trails are quite "raw" - no jumps and berms. A lot of it is like a hiking trail that is rideable.
There are some trails started at Sanddrif. I really enjoyed them.

The Wolfberg trails is short, but the most fun if you enjoy technical section that are labelled as "portage" i.e. carry your bike, but they are rideable if you have a dropper post and like slow technical descents.
Then the Klihuis trail is also fun, and you can link it to the others when you reach the dirt road, half way.

I'm wondering if changing the front is going to make a big difference? I think the purgatory is on the aggressive side for an XC rear. I'd consider a different rear first.
On my 27.5 Trance with 30mm ID rims, I've got a 2.6 Eliminator on the front. It measures about 2.5. Pretty happy with it. Got a 2.3 Aggressor on the rear... grips pretty well, but feels slow. Any suggestions for something that rolls a bit faster? Previous bike had Nobby Nics which rolled fast but didn't grip.
Best prince on an Eagle X01 Chain?
I'd look at a 1 or 2 year old Giant Anthem...
I just bought a bike with them on, and they feel good, but are quite soft and might wear quickly? I think I have the thin size though - thick would be better for me.
A good deal on this would make up for this lockdown:
Yes please!
Is this Boost or not?
Website says: "Rock Shox 15x100mm Maxle Lite"
So it is non-boost.
So, is the advantage of the XT setup in the shifter + derailleur? Chain/ cassette less so?
Also very happy with my 2FOs. It's the only spez product I own.
I also miss the comments for ads...
I found it very useful. People often make mistakes in their ads, like the wrong year model. Using a PM, they normally don't change the ad, and just ignore.
Nice, I'll be there over the holidays
Yep, it sucks. I use a Garmin HRM with my phone. I've disabled updates for Strava, so hopefully the old app will keep allowing it.
Yip, the split is obvious. You just keep straight on the climb instead of turning left on the red route singletrack.
Cool, thanks - I just added a map to my previous post, but you've just confirmed what I thought.
I actually turned back at that exact point (back to the dirt road), but was with other people and didn't look properly
Pity you missed that split point.. it's something like 6-8km extra singletrack down reward for that extra 2km climb on the black route. Definitely worth the climb!!
Will definitely make sure I do it next time... Is the split obvious? It is at the point where the single track turns off left from the jeep tack on top? So you keep on with the jeep track? See arrow below...
I think I had become numb to all the signage (which mostly has all the colours on it) Different signage at the splits would be cool.
