  1. they shall be forthcoming
  2. By pure chance of events I will actually be at P-R due to having to recon the TDF TT route the week before. This is 1 of biggest stoke vibes I have so far.
  3. If he/she uses a base template then sometimes a name is missed when using it but it doesn't mean you got J Smith's program. However, there is also a strong possibility you did.
  4. As it stands about 93% of them. If they not, we need to know why and how we going to correct that going forward. My 80% rule is a general rule that you need to follow 80% of the prescription. This is mainly applies to non Pros like people who still work jobs, have families etc. There is a thing called life it happens. However, in saying that I have those athletes who would make and a "Pro" look like a joke in terms of focus. If you cant follow 80% of the program in general you wasting my time and your money and I often change a coaching category or call it off until such time that the athlete can focus and get to it. Often when they dont follow they will do the easy sessions like 1.5hr recovery not the key sessions which are important. My time and your money is important and Im personally not happy or interested to take money and do nothing like a lot of coaches are and let a athlete just do whatever. I want to see you progress and see the results you working hard for. Wether that is Alan winning World Champs or Piet Pompies going from a 5hr to a 4hr Argus. That gives me and you satisfaction of a team work job well done. Thats me. I cant comment on Willie's stuff - please dont take it personally.
  5. You know you guilty! by 26' shows how long you owed me that tube for!
  6. Yes, I know the brace well and Karl. Thx on comments
  7. Thanks hope some info helps someone
  8. While I am not the only 1 I am well sure of this, but I can say I get weekly requests for free coaching with the promise the child being the next Alan Hatherly or Chris Froome and everything in-between and then athletes wanting same service. While I do coach some people for free, its based on a few factors I look at and its not wether they are the next rider above. What does get to me is that often when you do provide that service, 9/10 of them simply **** around and dont follow it - even my 80% rule - yet are all over the phone complaining. The other element comes in which is very common is that when they do good at a race, its all them, me me, i i. If they do bad its all my fault. I dont need to be spread over SM, its the opposite actually but there is a limit. End of season comes and you get no to nothing in way of thanks, even a tube as a gift. This unfortunately is a common thing wether a athlete will tell you differently when asking. This alone chases me away from freebies. Example: Sponsored an athlete, he got injured and sorted Dr's asap for him and so forth. MRI done and all that. He sent me the invoice to be paid. R14k. Said it was part of my sponsorship to coach him. Well that ended right there. This is a extreme case but similar pattern. I could write a book on stuff like this that I have been party to. Athletes need to be accountable, so much to say that when Willie approached me for coaching back then we came to an agreement and I made him pay me monthly. We joke to this day that its the reason I will retire early ( my cellphone bill is more monthly) but he was accountable and so was I to make sure he did what I prescribed and I did my job professionally. Nothing wrong asking for help, we all do it and thats often how athletes get ahead but there are ways of doing it and then there are the right ways of handling once you have it. To the OP, A million Rand credit card for 2019 wont get you to the Pro Tour unfortunately for 2020. My 2c.
  9. Can I ask what braces these were?
  10. Take this not as criticism but info to use going forward: Since that 2nd in 2013 your best result in SA has come in 2014 with a 2nd. Since then there has been a overall regression in your results locally and not progression. While I have no idea why or what variables influenced that there has been a decline on paper. You now want to go overseas and win races at level way above what is locally in SA and the depth is a lot deeper. To me doesn't seem like a justifiable process and a smart plan. You mentioned you want to work on your strengths and make them stronger. What about your weakness? that to me would be plan 1, make your weakness stronger and your overall level off that alone will be increase and be elevated. Then once that is done, make your strengths better. You trying to put a roof on a house with no walls. I would also start doing that now and not at the start of the 2019 season, you will be on the back foot all year. My .1c advice: Forget World Tour, focus on local and get results, build confidence and get noticed. In winter got to Europe and focus on races and terrain that suites you, again, get a result and get confidence and noticed. Work the ladder. You not going from The Hub to World Tour with a 2nd to Nolan in 2013 at 1 race. Please dont take this personally its just advice to show you a step by step process on how to get to goal which is often overlooked by a bigger goal. John
  11. Good to hear, try the hot baths, have found those more effective with athletes than the sauna.
  12. This is "easy" to overcome with implementing Heat acclimation protocols 12 days prior to coming over from such temperatures. Heat baths, sauna etc all work really well. Used for a athlete coming from Switzerland for Attakwas and also implement for local riders who battle in extreme heats.
  13. I preferred he rode Volta V cause I got to see him face to face which I dont get to do often. At the end of the day he chose to race for the team in Spain and no SA champs for whatever reason it is.
  14. Under the circumstances he was in yes I do.
  15. Willie would of done well on this course, it suites him. He was racing Volta Valenciana for team duty which I guess was more important for him. Something we would and do have to respect.
  16. Do you know why he never? If so, have you taken that into account of his performance?
  17. For sure, but then is LM meant to be peaking for this event or simply a helper and his season is based on being in form for Giro / Tour or Vuelta? There a good few variable to be put into place here on why he seemed to of been a disappointment to all. Ryan and Darryl had TDU as 1st goal of the season and of importance - their training was built around this and they carried that to SA champs. Its showed and was evident. Just saying that the public need to stop being so critical of LM when there can be other things in place here as to a performance result. My 2c.
  18. Not really a sprinter in its true form when comparing to Kittel, Kristoff and the likes. Also not really a climb, its basically a roller in a classic type event. So yes, really fast in a straight line on medium mountain stages. All rounder is a better word i think?
  19. If that race finished on a 15km Cat 1 or HC climb Louise wouldn’t of dissapinted you. Course was suited better for Impey and Gibbons
  20. It was not a given that Impey was going to close that, drop DD (especially Gibbons), ride across and win. Regardless of his form. Incredible effort by him.
  21. Your son basically raced a world cup. Respect. ps: Tell him to train smarter every day, not harder.
  22. I dont think there was support in his action in terms of language and so forth, to me that alittle over the top, it was more in support of him not being happy you sped up, latched his wheel with no hello, no pull and just sitting. Both parties here were wrong - age old saying "2 wrongs dont make a right" but I am sure if he was on a MTB also his reaction would of been the same. Its not about the bike he rode, Ive seen some really rude MTB'rs - its about the situation that happening. Lesson learnt and things Im sure will be better going forward. Keep riding and enjoy it, its life. move on.
