Most of my Mango flights I've ever been on while on business have usually been delayed or very VERY late... wouldn't and would never trust them with my bike. Even 1time is better... But to be on their side a bit... surely an over weight plane is dangerous and they must have stringent rules regulating that... imaging them putting on the bikes... then you and your bike never arrive. Then again Mango should have handled this all a lot better... rotten mango!
There used to be a triathlon shop called um... The Tri Shop near TygerValley in Cape Town... dedicated to triathlon stuff. But they are longer around...
I bought a pair of assos (were on special at bethesda bikewear at the time) after everyone was raving about them... but they hurt my gat! Definitely not better than my giordana and vermarc shorts...
Yesterday was my 5th attempt at this ride - every year it's hard... a broken chain in the first 15km's in that singetrack section through a burnt out forest was not nice, then a nice heavy "gat oor kop" fall made me a bit "gatvol" - but finished the 50k and had loads of fun... well done everyone involved.
Last year - entry R300 p/person or R3,600 per team; support car was sponsored (by our team sponsor - Williams Bike shop), petrol to the event +- R400 (from Cpt); accomodation R1,500 for two nights... don't forget all the LSD rides with your team mates. And Enjoy
Eat some cement the night before the funride WC, HTFU and start where you are seeded... if you haven't trained properly - in the words of someone famous "Ag Shame!"
I'd be a bit weary of riding this route inthe week, or Saturdays as there are quite a few trucks that use this stretch of road - with any on coming traffic it can get a bit narrow. Traffic is a lot quieter on a Sunday... maybe think of riding it then. Caveman was knockd off by a truck on this stretch - so just be careful...
