  3. This is what happened to my Giant Anthem: Cracked on day 2 at Sani and left me on my ass in the forest before Nick's pass. Rode with the cracked frame and dodgy rear end to the finish. Had only a cm or so before the whole seatpost would have snapped off. I am getting a new frame under warranty from Giant (with no hassles by the way), but a crack like that does make me a little wary. I know Spidey has had his share of problems with bikes, but I can't find a similar replacement for either an Anthem or my TCR Comp (TCR C series these days) road bike, that offers the same value for money. I like the look of other stuff, but keep coming back to Giant as you always seem to pay more for less with other brands. You can pay less for less but money isn't really the issue - more about what I can get for the money. Just as a matter of interest, what sort of seatpost extension were you running?

  5. True, but it's the girly geared version that comes in that colour scheme....not the SS
  6. Am leaning towards painting it myself. That way it will be easy to touch-up when it does get scratched....which it will GL....tell me more? ST....that colour combo had it's time and place, but it was most certainly before you were born!
  7. I remember seeing this live on TV in 1991 before I had started cycling. The rider is Djamolidine Abdoujaparov from Uzbekistan. Final stage of the TdF on the Champs Elysees. He had gathered enough points to win the green jersey but had to be helped onto his bike and ride the remaining 100m to the finish with paramedics walking along side him in order to officially finish and actually win the jersey. The 2nd or 3rd angle from above shows how he slides accross the tar at speed....EISH! He is still my favorite sprinter ever(even though he failed a dope-test in '97....everyone was doping then anyway so it was a fair playing field) Known as 'The Tashkent Terror' because of his very aggressive style of sprinting. One of the coolest things about him though is that the last stage victory of his carreer was after a breakaway on a mountain stage! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JcM1ZUJrXZA
Sal wel 'n merkie maak, maar dis baie beter as verf of epoxy
  9. Not keen on keeping this colour. It was quite novel initially but it's pretty boring now. Will inspect the anodizing process thoroughly and maye go that route. Was just thinking now that we powdercoat some of our products(albeit steel) and some batches seem really durable whereas others are much less so and chip easily. I'd be really pissed if it wasn't a really good coating. Eish....decisions!
  10. So last year I stripped the paint off my Titus. It was only temporary as I was deciding which way to go with it. I would prefer to anodize, but am worried about the bearing surfaces being damaged during the etching process...? Any comments...? I won't go paint as it scrathes to easily. The other option is to powdercoat. It can also scratch/chip when hit hard with rocks etc but should be much harder wearing. However, if it does start looking manky it'll need to be sandblasted to resurface, which is not ideal as this will almost certainly damage the bearing surfaces, right? If I go that route....which colour do you guys think? Pics below pre and post stripping the paint

  21. My brother had the same problem with Eggbeaters and Sidi shoes. He also found the play very annoying. Switched back to XTR and very happy with them. I'm on XTR as well...previous generation PD M959. Never had any problems. Ridden in lots of mud. When these were introduced some prominent magazine reviewed them and simply said that all things considered it's still the best overall pedal. That was before the Looks hit the market. Will be interesting to see how they compare.
