  1. Road closures?! Not with that route... The entire Paarl will only have one route out - and that is through town to the N1. Wellington will be rather screwed and will have to take back roads to get out of town. Franschoek will be completely cut off except for the looooong way around. Really don't think that's gonna fly...

Add to that... I'm gonna give away my age here... King Kenny, the Fast-Freddy/Steady-Eddie battles... Gardner, the original Aussie succes and sadly, one of my all-time favourites, Wayne Rainey. At least I can say I'm too young to have seen much of Barry Sheene! And in that era two mad hatter showmen and utter crowd favourites that never got (more often than not due to them pushing the envelope till it tore) their true credit - Mamola and Schwantz. All before that chap called Doohan pitched up... It's amazing how the bikes have changed in this time! What was utter high-tech and smooooth when ridden in the late 80's now looks downright square and boxy.

Some interesting insights in his book as to the difference in Yamaha and Honda when he came there! And they were nowhere when he got there... then winning that first race - classic! I understand Crutchlow's move to the Ducks even less. If I had to choose, I'd ride another season on the Tech 3 and I am pretty sure he'll have gotten Rossi's seat in the works team the year after that. He may be an Aussie... but I'd have loved to see Stoner out there as well. (sk27 just spat out some coffee, I'm sure of that!)

    Formula 1...

Mayhem, I'm 100% with you guys. I really think Webber is a very good driver. But Seb is just pushing the envelope so much that Webber is stretching everything to try and keep up - and at times he snaps some piece of the elastic bands he's been stretching. In the same car, Vettel is still managing the car, pacing himself and his equipment and... making it look boring. But - let's not forget about an equally impressive drive from Grosjean. Really improved this year, esp of late. 16th to 3rd and a... something like 16 lap opening stint on the softer tyres which other people had trouble with after a couple of laps! And Force India coming to the party again for a change!

Likewise - no Lorenzo fan. But that was the most super and smooth ride ever. Pure class... Now bring on Valencia! Hopefully some history can be made.

Absolute rubbish! Suspected that would happen, though. I think he'd have been able to get the fine paid by the fans! It was so awesome to see a real celebration instead of the freakin sterile podium affairs. This boytjie is class, no debate. sk27 - I agree, theres races throughout the whole field nowadays. But... I'd also prefer it if there was one for the lead. Very little beats that excitement - just look at the motogp race of earlier...
  7. It's a lab thing - they're like vacuums!
  8. Hey Caerus - thought you planned on going one-shoe solution? So presumed it was S-Tracks when I saw the LOOK box... Imagine my disappointment! Maybe I've mixed up threads... it's Friday after all.
  9. Ja, and then there's Americans and lawyers... tell them a bike weighs 11k's without pedals and the one the pick (with natural variances) weighs 11.1, there'll be a law suit. And most likely if it weighs 10.9 it'll be deemed as sub-standard or "he got more than me" and there'll also be a law suit...
  10. Correct - as I read it, we turn off before the long descend past Nederburg onto the Swaelstertpad and link up to the Wellington road from there.
  11. It will be easier to guess all number and power ball for the lotto, JGR... Seeding is a dark art - what goes on in those chambers, nobody will know. Esp Argus seeding, because it is affected by different races under different conditions. Plus the route for Burger has changed, so even knowing exactly what one got for which time last year, is no longer valid. FWIW I think my Burger was about 2:40 or just below last year for G seeding. The year before I rode 2:51 - also for a G seeding.

Sorry, but I still don't think the crime and the punishment matches up. I agree, the team royally stuffed it up. Why not just a drive-through? Which will severely affect his placing, but at least he can continue and get some points. Just wonder if it was one of the chasers in the championship rather than the runaway leader... whether the same course of action would have been followed. Just saying it's got a feeling of "Ah, here's an opportunity to create a closer championship run-in" to it.
  13. ...not to mention out-retrieving the Labrador!
  14. ...and my hands were empty at that stage - you should see those eyes when you have a snack!
  15. I was one of those 500 not starting. Mine was purely medical. Got ill and decided last weekend already I'm not in a condition to ride. Couple of weeks' hayfever (since before K2C) turned sour, sinus infections, so cortizone injection, etc. Rode midweek and HR did funny things on top of generally feeling like crap. Having had a torrid Burger MTB and weird HR's 3 weeks after having been ill, I decided not to ride. Went for a lekker jol on Welvanpas rather - at my own pace. And also - a serious mudfest also counts as a reason for a DNS for me.

Seriously, WTF...?! No time, drive-through or other penalty... They BLACK FLAG Marquez for stopping a lap late?! Ridiculous... And when did they change this to shorten the race and have this mandatory swap of tyres/bike?
  17. Kahlua this afternoon You spoke...?
  18. Also won't make 16th, think that's to where they've moved the Val de Vie. But try and stop me on the 23rd! See you there... and thanks in advance for organising this again! Last year's was fun!
  19. Since I'm out for this coming weekend, I'm in... this will have to be my seeding ride for the Peninsula jol. Lekker ride every year, this one.
  20. Thanks guys! That's what I was looking for. Interesting comment about the "sucking sound" - had mine do that for the first time the other even when I softened the fork (pressure) and did a test hop in the street. Though I broke something... but found it rode much better. New ventures and exciting times - the thing was on my old bike and I just rode it and trusted the shop sorted it out to be as it should!
  21. Ja, but before I toodle off and change things this afternoon, what is supposed to happen when I go either way. Some of you prefer the harder - why? You get a quicker "return"/readiness of the shock for next impact - but what else does that affect ito handling? And what happens when you go softer, why don't you like it? On what terrain does quicker/slower rebound have more benefits? Surely continuous rocky sections will have a different requirement to once-off larger hits?
  22. Okay, so now I've gotten myself interested in all this fork rebound stuff having played around with it by accident, finding myself as uncomfortable as heck, turning (basically just to count the clicks available) to and fro, back to middle and now it feels better. Now that I've seen what a difference it makes, I want to obviously improve it! But if I want to go off middle again, what will the effect be? What do you feel when you go faster or slower with the settings? I think mine was set to faster when I accidentally played around with it - the front-end just kept feeling like it wanted to wash away under me and inspired absolutely zero confidence. After getting it to center... wow, awesome difference! Sorry if it's a stupid question, but don't have too much time to play around and don't want to enter myself into the nearest medi-city experimenting with this! FWIW, it's a RS REBA, but rebound is rebound, so... what are the effects of setting it this way or that?

    Formula 1...

Fake pic, too many fingers! Grosjean has really suddenly came of age - or the new tyre compounds suit him well. Interesting that Sauber suddenly found something over the last two races. Completely kicking STR and FI's backsides... not to mention the chrome arrows.
  24. Where can I buy this in 6-packs?!
  25. You heard wrong - my bikes don't sleep in the garage. The way you're going of late, you should do it on the dualie for me to be able to almost hold on on my road bike! Follow me, I'm right behind you...
