  1. Haha, been there, done that. No t-shirt. Phoned them - mellow yellow for me. Smile and wave as you pass. A push will also help. (Not into the ditch...) Or remind me of the Mitchells tent - try catch me then...
  2. Haha, like your thinking lizzy! To boot, we can have a (very young!) pom-pom girl cheering us on all the way! Not sure that romantic notion is going to fly, though...
  3. No worries. Sal maar eendag op my eie gaan toer...
  4. Mailed racetec a while ago after hearing I should already have received it. Haven't heard anything yet. Will phone this afternoon if nothing has appeared in my inbox.
  5. You had to go and do it on the one day I will NOT be allowed to go for a ride... anniversary.
  6. Rubbish! You ride your race. What difference is starting a couple of mins later going to make to your results?! You should've seen the other coloured boards pass me last year! Ek watch jou...
  7. We had a Labby-Beagle called Fudge, was such a great lady. Enjoy her!
  8. Wayne, maybe I had a different version or something - I do not quite ride the same bike as you (alu Stumpy). I'm not going to get my blood pressure up by going into detail, but those things were noise from day 1. It was shuddering... but worst of all, it was inconsistent as can be. One moment I nearly break a finger trapping it between ever and bar, next moment almost tossed over hardly touching the brakes. That was what finally did it for me... Maybe I was unlucky with that set. I had Maguras on my previous bike (Merida 96) and never had any issues with them.
  9. Selle hier. Hulle gooi dit seker maar in batches deur. Los obviously die beste vir laaste...
  10. Best change I've made to my bike: take Maguras off and fitted XT with Icetech rotors. i was contemplating Hopes, but then a friend asked me a very valid question: Well first off he said it's awesome brakes. But then he sketched this scenario: So, on the morning of K2C or day 2 of Sani or you're on vacation in Putsonderwater... where are you going to get some assistance and/or parts for Hope brakes? Was enough to convince me and I am VERY happy with my Shimano's - it's an entirely different experience to slow down now!

    Formula 1...

The first-corner use of an aero device as a braking device does not constitute braking problems... Interesting comment from Lotus last night was that Kimi and Seb's race times after the first lap was 1 sec apart. Now sure, situations were vastly different, nobody know how far Vettel was from the limit, etc... Just thought it was interesting that he ran so close in time, having had a car that looked positively (and shockingly) outclassed by a number of other teams for the rest of the weekend. Maybe the complete change in rules makes for a new era of domination (for another team)... These remarkable periods of domination are very cyclic and usually ended with a change in tech and rules. (Which is why I don't like F1 as much as I used to.)
  12. Agreed with the above. And drinking any pill on an empty stomach (unless it instructs you to do so) is not a good idea. The thing that works almost better for me than Andolex is gargling with Listerene mouthwash.
  13. All the best Mons - it is always tough.
  14. I ran into another problem of running too low pressures last weekend - sideways roll! It happened to be the front wheel that lost air along the way... then started climbing and the first time I stood up, I nearly went down - front end just went sideways. Well.. if I thought going up was interesting, coming down was a nightmare - front end kept wanting to wash away with the slightest sign of any lean on either the surface or the bike.
  15. Maybe spring is in the air with the "postal issues"... because the last two evenings I spent cleaning up old bills and all kinds of papers we've kept. Kahlua chewed on and ripped off metal gauze from a door and proceeded to munch the paperwork inside. Our braai room looked exactly like that! And very proud at that... you could see her beaming proudly when I walked in - I HUNTED THAT! Thooose thingies won't be bothering you any more...
  16. I'm here to learn. Much more to it to be told how to improve something and think about and apply it than just getting wild applause from the peanut gallery for a pic you did not even take. What's the use of that anyways?
  17. I think those ads are part of the situation and should be part of the scene - very much in context. Very good shot Fruity - it says a lot.
  18. 'Dale your optimism is killing me! A North Westerly when we need it? Agreed with Dale - long rides to build endurance, sort your snacks and stay in the bunch. And no worries, it won't only be pro's! There'll be a lot of social riders and guys training for DC there as well. Fun day out...
  19. You obviously had a different experience (or maybe model) than I did. Could not get mine to shut up or bite consistently. Took it off and put on XT's with IceTech rotors... no hassles since. Best change I made to my Stumpy.
  20. They differ per bike range. Some has Alex, some has DT Swiss. You can look at the bike and it'll most likely be a visible decal on the wheel.
  21. A Defender with road bikes on...? I am officially confused...

This season's racing is just getting better and better! Unreal... Great entertainment!
  23. Sorry about the quality and buildings in the foreground - from Technopark, the koppie I was talking about... Another "if only we brought the camera along today" moment
  24. Even snow on the koppies (those above Eden you see from Techno Park) in Stellies - and that doesn't happen all that often!
  25. It will most likely spin your head a bit then if I say I'm still on the same set of Spez tyres my bike came out with - 3 500+ k's and still enough tread on. Admittedly not all tech riding, some gravel and even tar roads thrown in. Just sayin... piece of thread indeed.
