  1. Hi Hubbers. Anyone had a frame resprayed to original spec after it was damaged? Looking for someone that can do the painting and decals to restore to original glory. Please PM me details
  2. Learn to breathe properly, almost like Le Mans breathing for women at childbirth. That and not gripping your bars too tightly. Take your hand off the grip and shake it to get the blood back into the fingertips
  3. Yay, everyone are friends again. Maybe because it's too early for anyone to have had too much brandy and be really aggressive? Warms my heart when all the old farts love life again and aren't grumpy. Now go and ride your bikes boys...
  4. Big H, as an outsider I believe you have over-reacted. You have lacked the maturity one would expect from an individual that one would believe to be wise. Could you not have taken note of what was said and then reserved comment for when you were less frustrated? I agree 100% with the writer of this post. One drops off a bike with a problem, issues instruction as to what should be done, and goes to work to earn the money that is needed to keep this sector of the economy going. So no, I think it was rude of you calling the writer lazy because he doesn't want to fix his own bike, let alone test it after it had been supposedly serviced/fixed. The store should have a checklist that needs to be followed to make sure the basics are adhered to. I am prepared to do quite a bit of repair work on my bikes, but certain things need certain tools (of which I don't have all of them) and I'm not prepared to bugger my bike up trying to make it work. I have had the same experience at my LBS, at my Subaru dealership and at KTM after getting my other toys back. One expects to at least get what they have paid for, and trust me things like this are going to be a nightmare at the end of the month when the Consumer Protection Act comes into play. If a service has been charged for, then a proper service should be rendered. In closing, I think we all agree that crap like this will always happen. What we need to see is a change in mindset: how the problem is dealt with after it has been brought to the attention of the relevant people.
  5. No chop, he specifically said he had a race number... Was it a dodgy character or a darkie character? Did he have a knife in his pocket? One has to be a judge of character to be able to discern these things. Have you seen who are driving all the new M3's these days? Scaly looking chaps... Should have offered him R100 and swopped bikes and race numbers, then chased him and see how well HE does in the race for his life...
  6. If anyone has 185 brake rotors then they have a VERY limited edition. NONE of the major manufacturers make that size. Shimano, Avid, Hope, Ashima and Formula only make a 180...
  7. +1 I bought a pair of ritchey pedals coz they were light and looked ok, but they are k@k!!! I also have eggbeaters, but there's nothing like Shimano. The 540's are a good pedal, you just need to tweak it to your liking. Once you've done that there's no looking back
  8. Just sell the bike. I have a Commencal with new XTR derailleurs, chain & sprocket and I'm not having this crap. You wanna buy it? Life is too short to struggle with gears..........
  9. Ready for a try-out yet? Or are you too busy playing with the roadies? C'mon, the spruit is nice & muddy at the moment.... We leaving my spot in Bryanston at around 7:30ish saturday am. Let me know. PS CRC sent me 9spd XT kit not the 10's
  10. If I buy 2 will it make me good at golf and better at tennis?
  11. You got too much money to burn dude. I just bought my wife a Merida (good chicks bike) tfs 800d for christmas. Pimped it with XT stuff so she's stoked about her new toy. I wouldn't spend too much money on a bike for the lady as you generally tend to see them ( the bikes) hung up a few months later not to be ridden again till the next holiday away. My wife has every good intention to go out and ride twice a week, but with kids at school etc it's difficult for them to find the time. Maybe you're lucky and she makes the time for it, in which case spend the money on a good bike. My 2c worth
  12. I have a medium with a 110 stem. I have ordered a 90mm from CRC as well as a full XT groupset. I was told riser bars make a huge difference, so those were ordered also. Order should be here tuesday. Chris, I will let you know when the upgrade has been done on my 29er, or would you like to ride it like it is and also see the difference before i change it?
  13. Well, what do you expect? It's a Merida...... That's why I put the offer out there that my 29er is available for a test before the purchase of another 26". Chris, ride it.......
  14. I bought a Gary Fisher 29er after a long layoff from mountain biking. Needless to say I crashed it 3 weeks after buying it. Broke my left shoulder and ribs and did major damage to myself (much like Chris_W_65). Was loving it before I crashed. It certainly is a lot faster than the 26", but doesnt handle as nimbly. After healing I took my 26" on holiday in december and haven't looked back. I just prefer the immediate response when you kick down, its much easier to jump and bunnyhop (often needed when riding singletrack) but I feel like I can ride further with less effort on the 29er. Once rolling the 29er feels like it will run forever, which is a huge mental boost if you're not fit. I have both and think for now I will put the 29er on the rack and carry on riding the 26" for the meantime(which I hope to get sub 9Kg's on my next upgrade). I'm not going to sell the 29er as I feel there might be a need for it in the future. If anyone in the Bryanston area wants to ride the 29er just PM me and we can go for a ride along the spruit to help you make up your own mind. Live fast, ride faster.....
  15. Chris, do you moonlight as a SAPS officer after hours??? Why do you ask such clever questions? Were you trained in Scotland Yard? Do you have the said tube in your possession?
  16. Good job mate. Maybe you want to heat the frame a bit with your hair dryer: makes the clear coat harder. I agree with RodTi, black stem would have looked better IMHO
  17. No Stewie, tube WASN'T taped...or it would still be there......
  18. You sound a bit unbalanced. Are you wearing 2 of these at the same time?
  19. Fake, I e-mailed them and got a whole long story back from an Amy. I did a bit of scratching and found that the company used to trade under a different name, but have been banned from Alibaba. Only a matter of time till the new company will be banned also.
