  1. go see my first few posts on this subject to see what i mean
  2. Big difference Malema, Lance and CSA are public figures/entities the child/junior (albeit errant one in this case) is not. I am also glad to see all the holier than thou, never made a mistake in my life individuals so keen on handing out punishment. If he is really such an evil then the Wheel of Cycling will sort him out. I have seen similar incidents happen on our local tracks before the advent of the hub and the comments were normally "that's track cycling, it's tough....." etc.
  3. A very, very, very reliable source has seen Michael Jackson roaming the streets of Hilbrow and he had Elvis in his company
  4. Not to be a fly in the ointment....but won't it be better to wait for full results of the investigation? I just laugh at how people get worked up at sensational reporting and then when the real story comes out it turns out to be a damp squib. Yes the anti-Uniball lobby would like to believe that he doped "how else could he have won it 7-times in a row" and the LA lobby would murder you for ever thinking of it. What about Eddie "The Animal" Merckx weren't his exploits "In-human" too...now I've stirred up the Merckx followers Here's a thought maybe LA didn't dope he didn't have to, but a lot of his helpers had to just to be there in front everyday for 3wks. Most of the time the blue train was the strongest team by far and that was the difference yes he was the best but his team had to be better than the rest so that they could protect him. Just think about it, even when Ulrich was on top he just couldn't pull it through because his team wasn't strong enough and they were also focussed on the sprint jersey as well.
  5. I sincerely hope that you are proven wrong, that justice will prevail. I have noted in my short time on this earth that the wheel does turn and people who have done wrong eventually do get found out no matter what their colour or politics...you can't escape justice. The sooner we stop using colour as a basis/excuse for an argument the better for all of us. It is a fact that in any sport there are people who are "connected" and seem to get away with things but that does not continue forever they are eventually found out for what they are. There are many other parents who are also very fanatical supporters of their "little champions" and inspiring them to "win at all costs", inflating their actual talents. If the little champs don't live up to the expectations all manner of excuses are offered and many of them are just a bunch of spoilt brats. You just have to attend a few races to hear and see this; and this in not only limited to people of one colour or political persuasion.
  6. What has his family got to do with this incident? Let justice follow its course and don't pre-empt the outcome you will have your chance to bleat after the Disciplinary if it doesn't go your way. Both sides will have their opportunity to state their case and hopefully the right decision will be taken based on the evidence. The laaitie obviously has talent and an attitude to boot, yes he should get taken down a notch or two but it must be done within the structures and in a way that does not leave him the excuse to cry "foul" or "lynch mob"; let him state his case. Let me say it again "I don't condone what he is alleged to have done" but he is being found guilty without a trial.
  7. Something tells me that we don't have all the info to make any judgement wrt to this incident. The track is not for sissies/angels and I am sure that if the "Guilty" party pulled the "victim" down without any provocation and if it was his intention to really injure the "innocent" victim (because that is how he is portrayed by the poster)then the wheel will turn and he will receive his just desserts. But if this is not the case then you the poster should be ashamed of yourself for basically assembling a lynch mob for a junior, this is uncool and unfair on the CSA disciplinary structures. Rather allow them to reach their decision instead of pre-empting the outcome. If they don't reach the 'correct'decision based on all the evidence presented then you "might" have a cause to be aggrieved. It also seems that a lot of the comments are based on hearsay, conjecture and supposition. Not guilty until proven so...I in no way condone this type of behaviour but you a manager of juniors should set the example and follow the processes set out for disciplinary issues instead of using a public forum and with all your experience you should know which steps to follow to resolve this issue in the best interests of cycling and not to do anything which would bring the sport into disrepute. I also see that you are very generously naming and shaming the "perpetrator" while being basically anonymous..Not cool
  8. I think you might have a problem with your eyes (see my post), to repeat... no I was not one of the individuals in question. I gave my 2c as I've said it is easy to talk the talk but when your bluff is called and you have to put those words into action..then the consequences could be unpleasant. If the post read differently like; Motorist follows and assaults cyclists in road-rage altercation which could have happened if JW had actually found them when he went looking for them. I am sure you would be singing a different song then. I agree, he reacted well to avoid taking them out and anyway it would be interesting to get their view on the incident. You will most probably find that they suffered a "brain-dead moment" by not thinking their actions through; mistakes happen they survived, JW got to test his ABS and defensive driving and we all learnt from this post.
  9. Not a chance, I restrict my riding to the M3 or N1 freeway sections not the mickey mouse M5Raapenbergofframps
  10. While I hear you; Being in the right, then kicking the cr@p out of the fool and then standing in front of a very unsympathetic judge explaining your actions changes that perspective very quickly and painfully; believe me. We are all macho when talking the talk, problem is that talk turns into action so quickly before you even realise it and leads to regret. Your bluff gets called so easily and with today's laws you could come horribly short.
  11. Curb is not to my tastes, I prefer Pole especially before breakfast. And thank you for responding so quickly after really reading and understanding what I was getting at.
  12. My 2c50c: While you might be in the right and the alleged offending cyclists made an error in judgement which led to the "close call"; your comments and subsequent reaction is uncalled for and could only have led to an escalation of the situation. Yes you are upset and possibly rightly so but if I were one of those cyclists and had to read your comments we would be having more than words. If you had found them afterwards what would you have done? there is a good chance you might have ended the night cuddling with "Tyrone/Big Bubba" in one of the cells. We have all done stupid things while out riding(to varying degrees)and some of us have learnt from them, maybe they will. PS. Did any of the guys swear at you or react aggressively towards you to cause you wish them ill or call their mental capacity etc into question. Please take note there are youngsters on this forum as well and we should not be perpetuating this form of aggression towards fellow cyclists/road-users albeit errant ones. If you had stopped and spoken to them and they had reacted badly to your reprimands/advice then you might have had some justification for your outbursts.Your post would have been better served if you had left out the personal attacks and name-calling. Yes they were wrong in crossing two lanes without checking/into oncoming traffic and I am glad you avoided them.
  13. So banna, tell me about your childhood..... Do you harbour any hidden 29er tendencies and are upset about other peoples open 29er'ness.
  14. my 9 year old is an asthmatic and when she went through a bad season the doc put her onto an aggressive course of meds(2 separate pumps) and warned us that her growth will be retarded during the course. I was sceptical of this and he took her measurements during each visit (this lasted for 6months) and two months after she stopped the meds when her asthma was under control, she started growth spurts which was clearly more pronounced after she had stopped. It did'nt help that our family is not blessed with an over-abundance the height gene . So there does seem to be some truth in the matter. BTW The one pump was Budaflem and I cant remember what the other one was. Just my 23cents worth. Also, one of the reasons salbutamol is on the banned list is because it is used as a masking agent used to mask the use of certain other performance enhancing drugs.
  15. The Number is 011-614 6631 and the holding company is Hersol.
  16. I've used it for the past few years. I spoke to the lady at their JHB office on Friday and according to her they are shutting the brand down but they are clearing their stock at hugely discounted prices. Only problem is that the bars expire in June and I am not sure what the exp date of the rest of the goods are. I will be stocking up on plenty of Rocket gels and hoping that they last until well into next season. The other gels on the market don't come close wrt price and effectiveness.
  17. I have repaired a couple of these sensors before. All you have to do is split the casing carefully along the seam with a thin blade and then replace the battery if the battery is flat. I have discovered that the magnetic sensor inside also goes defective after a while (a couple of years) a possible manufacturers built in defect to force you to purchase a new sensor at R600. That can also be repaired but you need the right equipment and spares to do so, which I have done before. It is easier than you think and a darn sight cheaper than R600.
  18. if they are dead, its a pity cos those rocket gels and racefuel got me through many a race and the choc banana bars were excellent
  19. I have been trying to get fast fuel products for the past few weeks with no luck.Any hubbers know who the new distributor is for Cape town?
  20. I did the fitrack 9week program for the Argus and achieved a PB of 3:02 should've been a Sub 3 if I had trusted my training when the break went on Chappies. Can recommend it and the plus side is that it is flexible/customizable.
  21. Hey Musashi, you were looking strong going past the ostrich farm, I also saw some of the other roadies giving you some shocked looks especially when you had to go off-road a couple of times.
  22. Hi, if any-one has found a Racetec timing chip no.RAC09938; possibly in the mountainside start pens at the Argus (where B,D,F and H etc started)please drop me a pm. Regards
  23. Hi I lost my timing chip somewhere between the "D" start pen and the finish. number RAC09938. It broke off my bike mount so nice ride no official time
  24. were you one of those machines which came past us D bunch guys up Chappies. Those E leaders made chappies look flat. My race was spoiled by some old fart hitting my front wheel with his pedal as he walked past and damaging my timing chip holder in the starting shoot , I didn't notice because I was more worried about damage to my wheel and guess what I lost it on the route somewhere so my 3:02 PB means nothing.
