The frame of the Merida is really nice, and looks like a carbon frame, and I do like the Fox shock. The Silverback is very well equipped for the price, and the shock has a 15mm thru axle. Any advice on which one I should look at getting?

  13. My husband was shot(Monday night at 18:00) in the arm and his black and white Merida 29er and Garmin were stolen. The second shot was aimed directly into his face, but the.... missed!!!! It happened opposite the cemetery between Woodlands Mall and Mooikloof. My husband was shot at arm's length as he passed the suspects at high speed down the hill in Garsfontein Drive. Please be careful when you ride there. These things do not care if its busy or if its daytime. They shoot to kill.
  14. Hi all Would you say a Merida Big 9 TFS 300 would be an ideal beginners MTB for recreational purposes and amateur racing? Can get a deal for under R9k. Could get a TFS 100 for about R7k but I'm more keen on the higher spec 300 if one look at the groupset. Would rather fork out a bit more money to have a bike that would be good enough for at least 3 years. Please let me know your thoughts as I'm not a guru on the tech spec vs price area.
  15. Hi All, I've got a bit of an issue regarding my newly acquired S/S, long story , so I was looking at swopping it for this bike. 16. Any idea if these bikes are available in SA already? Need a 23" frame full suspension 29'er.
  17. I am on the lower end of the new bicycle price ladder and have been presented with 2 possible options, the 2013 Merida Ride Lite 91 or the 2013 Trek 1.2. They are both Shimano Sora kitted with the most obvious difference between the 2 being the wheel set. The Merida has an Alex Rim where the Trek has a Bontrager wheel set. With different discounts being provided on both bicycles they will each cost me around R6,500.00. This is due to a 25% discount on the Trek and 15% on the Merida. The Trek is therefore more expensive nbormally. To all the more serious riders out there I would be interested to know which of the 2 would be higher rated. My heart tells me the Merida, my brain the Trek ...
  18. Hi Guys, I have a Merida 96 26er and was wondering if it would be possible to convert it to a 650B Thank you

  20. I recently bought an Aluminium Merida Warp TT Frame, however it was sold without a seatpost. Really struggling to source a seatpost for this, as the newer Carbon warp 5 is too big Anyone have one lying around or know of another solution?
  21. Hi Guys, I am new on TheHub, so firstly, Hi! I am looking at getting a good quality mountain bike with a good group set that can last many years - will be buying two of these, one for me and one for my father. The 2014 Merida Tfs 500 Big Nine caught my eye because it has a good group set and air shocks with remote lockout. Just a few questions: 1) Price, what would this bike go for - best deal ? (please specify where) 2) Performance, anyone has this bike or the previous years? We will primarily use this bike for single trail with the odd technical sections. (ie. Groenkloof, Modderfontein) Thanks Guys!
  22. Hi Fellow Hubbers, Any idea where to get Merida branded cycling kit locally?
  23. is this bike as good as what I think? I can get one 2nd hand for R8000. Good buy or not
  24. I love my morewood zula, but think it is time for the "29er thing". Can`t decide witch is best within my budget. Looking at the Giant Anthem advanced (carbon), Merida carbon and then the Pyga. All about same price bracket with Pyga maybe a bit more. Do mostly XC. Did sani2c twice and doing berg2bush this year. Week and weekend rides more district roads with here and there some technical sections. I am 185cm and weigh 102kg! Big question is iff the Pyga`s travell is to much for my kind of riding? Any suggestions??
