Due to the fact that Cycling South Africa (CSA) is not in a position to contribute towards the travel costs of riders that have been selected to compete at at the UCI World MTB Champs in Cairns, Australia, the selected athletes are required to self-fund the trip. The Western Province Mountain Biking Commission (WPMTBC) has decided to contribute R30 000 towards the WC cyclists’ costs to attend the World Champs and are offering cycling enthusiasts the opportunity to contribute as well, and stand a chance to win a SRAM Eagle GX upgrade kit sponsored by Cape Cycle Systems.   2. Does anyone have a means of contacting CSA regarding processing of 2020 Race Licenses and membership registration? I have emailed the address on the website ( info@cyclingsa.com ) with no reply, and I've tried calling ( 021 9171749) with no answer. I processed my race license renewal on 3 December 2020 and it still shows "Pending" on my CSA Member page. The pending is for club approval. The club hasn't received any comms from CSA.... Anyone else in a similar situation or had some success? This is quite important with Provincial and SA Champs in the near future.

  4. The KZN Summer Series returns to the province in 2017 with the focus this time on the men’s races. The KZN Summer Series for men will take place in Pietermaritzburg on 25 and 26 March 2017. A company focused on Sport Specific Strength & Conditioning Training.   6. The 2014 Time Freight SA Road Cycling Championships delivered a spectacle of racing hardly seen before in South Africa. Louis Meintjes (Team MTN-Qhubeka) just snuck past Daryl Impey (Orica GreenEdge) after 180km of gruelling racing. It was a massive disappointment to Daryl that his bike developed a mechanical in the sprint finish.   16. The new changes to the Cycling SA membership structure has witnessed an influx of members already in the early part of 2015. By shaping the membership to last a full 12-month period means that avid cyclists can purchase their membership at any time during the year and enjoy the full benefits, particularly with the road cycling season ready to gain momentum again from August. Cycling South Africa is calling all women who are interested in attending the next Sport Director (DS) course, which will be held at the UCI World Cycling Centre in Aigle, Switzerland in November, to submit their applications. After long, successful negotiations, an agreement was this week concluded between Cycling South Africa (CSA), the Pedal Power Association (PPA) and the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust (CTCTT) whereby all events on the PPA calendar with a racing element will be sanctioned by Cycling SA.   19. National team rider Rourke Croeser was found to be in possession of a syringe at the recent World MTB Championships in Andorra. This is in direct contravention of the UCI Medical rules and specifically in relation to the sub-section “Ban on Injections”.
