haha, true Dangle rest is best. I've searched high and low but nobody seems to sell it in tablet form. Being overtrained really sucks. I can feel it coming on at the moment.

Found that the Pure Whey protein powder also did not agree with me, glad I am off that now,

Aaaah another lactose intolerant member of the  population.

Coffee Steri Stumpie. Hopefully they sell it in bulk at Makro yumm...

If you like your steri's and are near Kyalami then you can buy it at the parmalat factory outlet

Personally I think this is an old wive's tail. How much glutamine is in a steri-stumpie? Are you telling me there are 0 benefits to taking glutamine for recovery, along with multi-vitamins, 10% protein and branch chain amino acids? When you can prove to me that these do nothing for me then I will stop buying recovery drinks. Cadence Revive is my drink of choice at the moment and I suspect that either Swart or Noakes had a hand in designing it, so one of them is definitely not convinced of the milo-is-best nonsense.

I will give this a go. Googled it, sommer looks like it can work

I'm being lazy, but can somebody do a nice table comparison between all the ingredients of (1) low-fat chocolate milk (2) recovery drink X, Y and/or Z (3) Energade (4) chicken etc. etc.?

And not only the big three, namely carbs, proteins and fats, but e.g. the proteins broken up further into caseins and all the dozens of other types of proteins beside the caseins.

That would give us more insight. I just don't have the time to do it now.

I know! But that would surely squash a lot of myths and opinions on this topic. We'll probably see chocolate milk and recovery drink having mostly the same ingredients (e.g. main ingredient in recovery drink is milk or milk proteins!).

You put up your hand... we'll expect results next week - thanks

More research: Chocolate-flavoured milk speeds up recovery as well as expensive sports drinks - http://www.telegraph.co.uk/science/science-news/5421581/Chocolate-flavoured-milk-speeds-up-recovery-as-well-as-expensive-sports-drinks.html#

What to take if you cannot handle the lactose in milk, because i see most of the recommendations suggested all mix with milk?

Blond dietitician?? Heaven help us

Blonde, but sharp... "Registered dietician with a BSc Dietetics and Masters in Nutrition degree from Stellenbosch University. She is an active member of the Association for Dietetics in South Africa and registered with the South African Health Professions Council"

Ha, I get that there are recovery benefits to drinking milk, and the sugar helps to replenish lost carbs.

I just think there have to be better formulas out there than the accidental benefits of drinking a steri stumpie.

Basically I'm looking to back the most likely formula and to my mind it's the one put together by the sports scientists, not the product department at Nestle. Seems to me the chocolate milk companies only want to make a tasty beverage - one aimed at the masses, full of tons of sugar and preservatives, cheap milk solids and lord knows what else.

If my dietician told me to drink that I'd have to think twice about paying her for that advice...
