And opeing up in richman's neighbourhoods does not help either. I would like to see how long the Spez shop in Melrose Arch is gonna last.

+1 Burry Stander just oened a Spez store in Waterfall in KZN. It is close to an affluent area so it will be interesting how long they last there. One thing going for them is his name behind the brand. I don't recall too many successful "boutique" shops lasting in Waterfall.

Not our problem, we want the best deal.....wherever its cheaper there I will buy it...why? Because I can...also saving R200-R500 on parts is another tank petrol...its called budgeting.

I buy from CWC, sometimes CRC...or Cycle Centre.....I go where the deal is, its called money well spent....

I recently shopped around for a child seat for my son. Local distributor was R1400. Bought online from Take2 for R837... Now you tell me how spending an extra R563 justifies a local purchase. That was on one item only. I could have almost bought another one for the amount that I saved. I realise that there are no warranties and back up service buying overseas. but I am sorry, I vote with my wallet.

I walked in there the other day and was greeted immediately and the guy gave me his card and offered to show me around - that made a very good first impression. They also have the added advantage that it is very difficult to get most Specialized parts online.

Actually reality is you will get far better back up service with Take2s Amazon portal than local suppliers even though your stuck with the delivery charges of returning the item to Amazon. And I will bet you $1 that it would be quicker and a far less painfull experience :)

But I also buy a lot from Take2 Amazon portal as I save a packet. My last order took a day quicker to be delivered to the office than my CRC order to arrive at my SAPO (and the orders where done within 24hrs of each other)

I was also the one agreeing by buy online, etc. Exactly the reason I sometime buy online also... ;)

Remember...CWConline is also a online shop as it gets delivered to your door (even tho I visit there as I go talk to Chris and Christof)

So here goes the rant all over again.

I'm bored.

Gonna go watch the cricket and then go for a spin.

You started the rant and got your bib shorts all in a twist.

I hope you had a good ride and feel better now.

I'm spoilt, i have a lot of decent lbs at my disposal. Revolution cycles in Cape Town is easy to pop into at lunch time and have yet to disappoint me. Cwc is a click-click and 5 minutes cycle away, and on weekends and for services I go to Cycle Addiction in Somerset West. Between these 3 I always get decent prices and great service.

Agreed that voting with one's wallet is the way forwards  My LBS has been selling me bikes and servicing them for me for over 15 years! I am only 28.

They still cant compete with certain items that CWC can supply me with for example Carbon noir Cranks... CWC R2100, my LBS R3000

Yeah, I was agreeing with you!! Just using your comment as an example. We as consumers need to shop around. In today's economic times every rand saved is an extra rand in your pocket to put towards the next purchase (sorry to state the obvious!)

+ 1 for Solomons,

The shop can get busy and forget at times their promises to phone you back if they are out of stock but i find their prices favorable compared to other LBS and items cheaper than CWC and they will even fit items such as cassettes and cranks if you ask them.

Be careful, Take2 Amazon portal is addictive and I'm addict :) I do 1-2 purchases per month and I just cannot stop.
