Before a rather big outride I used to have oats (mornings)

I've come to a point where I cannot even look at oats anymore, everytime I looked a spoon with oats I had gag reflexes, and everything I did manage to swallow I wanted to throw up (excuse the picture)

What would be the best replacement for oats, as I know it's carb rich and slow release to keep me going.

I know I could google this but I might not find something thats tried and tested by other riders...

Make yourself Bircher Meusli. You make it the night before:

1 cup raw rolled oats,

1/2 apple juice

1/2 fat free plain yoghurt

5ml cinnamon

1 grated granny smith apple (optional)

mixed all together, place in sealed container in fridge over night.

To serve add handful raw mixed nuts and grated apple (optional)

Serves 2.

Really yummy, lower GI than cooked oats, and tastes great.

Given up on cooked oats too, and this has been the best discovery ever!!

Oats give me indigestion. My latest fad is Future Life cereal made with hot water about an hour before the ride/race, then Cytomax or 32GI in the bottle, and a low GI fruit bar or nut bar in my pocket.

Hey, Snap, Nathrix!

Stick with oats. Try this, when cooking them, add a handfull of whole peeled garlic cloves, don't use salt or sugar.

white toast with honey or jam...

That also sounds like an option. This morning I had peanut butter and jam sandwiches (White bread) and to my suprise they been keeping me going since 9am :)

I eat oats most mornings. Had Future life before the Attakwas ultra and it worked for me. I take FL to work and mix it with cold water at about 3ish in the afternoon when I start to get peckish
