Enjoyed the ride' date=' but sure had to work on it. Starting in B group and  going out my legs were a bit stiff but i manged to stick with a small bunch and after a while my legs felt good, did a lot of work at the front when the 1st bunch from C caught us, stayed with them a while but they dropped me just before the half way turn, started another bunch of about 7 but dropped them shortly after the turn into the wind and solo'd for a while before a big bunch of mix B's and C's about 40 strong caught me. I stayed snuggled in the middle of this bunch till the end. About 1km from the end it was a mad dash for position 999 and the predictable happened with a huge crash in front, resulting in half the bunch going down. Manged to avoid it and crossed in 2h52 (pretty poor time when my half way split was 1h10. I was expecting about 2.45)

Yip - I was in that crash. Someone took my friend's wheel out from under her, I slammed on brakes to miss her and my other friend subsequently smashed into me.  500m from the finish line Angry - was the 2 seconds that guy gained really worth it??  Anyway, friend in front got taken to hospital because she came down pretty hard and was complaining of neck pain.  She's ok though - no damage other than a few stitches in her elbow - I spoke to her earlier - very stiff but fine.  I got to finish and so did the friend who crashed into me - 2h50.

AngryAngry Thug and I were doing our thing about 20 k's from the end when somebody fell infront of me. Took a hard fall, badly bruised and helmet broken, front rim damaged beyond repair. Karsten guys (LBS) helped to improvise the rim and finished with e group. Hope to be ok for 94.7.... very sore this morning, but okCryCry.
Water bottle, jammer om van jou val te hoor, hoop jy is reg vir die 94.7.  Ek het rond gekyk vir jou by die start maar kon jou nie sien, het jy in B begin?

The best of all was, after my friend was taken away in the ambulance and we were walking back with her bike, another bunch came past and THE SAME THING HAPPENED!!  Luckily the guy who got switched managed to stay upright and it looked like he only got a puncture - he must have still been plenty ticked off at having to carry his bike over the finish line.

I mean really - is position 9831 and 2 whole seconds faster than the bunch that's dragged your backside around for 2 -3 hours that important?  But this is not new - I think I've read rants on this topic after just about every race.  End of rant ...

Race report from the back of the field:<?:namespace prefix = v ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:vml" /> <?:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Well I had a really nice ride, (didn't think I could ever say that about this race with the wind).

Started in GL, and for the first time ever started in the front of the bunch (I normally hide in the back) but found myself there by accident. Anyway started with the front guys and got dropped at about 40km's (I'm guessing distance as my sensor wasn't picking up my speed and distance). Then I sat nicely with a bunch of about 25 from the FL group. (It was nice to ride there as it was very cool to have actually caught guys who started ahead of me for the first time Big%20smile, I'm normally the one who get's caught)

Anyway got to the turn around and was still sitting nicely in this bunch, praying that the guys aren?t going to pick up speed into the wind as I knew what was coming and lone behold they didCry. So Solo?ed for about 15 to 20 km?s until I caught up to a nice big bunch again, then I blew a bit as I had not eaten anythingDead (I was too busy watching wheels and trying to stay with the bunch, these guys at the back are dangerous in big groups, so you dare not move your hand away from your brakes) and dropped off. Slowed down and had a few bites of my protein bar and off I went again and Solo?ed for about 10km?s or so.

A very nice little group of 5 caught up to me and the 6 of us rode nicely together until a faster bunch caught up with us and we jumped on (This bunch thing is really fun!!!Big%20smileThumbs%20Up). Anyway the bunch split a bit and I did my bit up front to pull about 5 of us back to the front group. Sat with them for a while and did my bit at the front for a little while as I was really tired by then. I then dropped off at about 19km?s to go Ouch(I know this distance as I asked the guy who dropped off with me how far to the end),

There were about 4 or 5 of us left (I?m not sure how many exactly as the guys just sat on my wheel) and I did all the work upfront. Then 3km?s from the end Zaskar came back for me and helped me by sitting in the front for the last 3 km?s, thanks Zas!!!!!!!! Hug(with my friends in tow ? ok they did make for good entertainment, we had one guys telling jokes and another doing a count down to the end on every kilometre, while I was battling up front) They did however say thank you when we crossed the finish line.

So all in all a good race, my best time yet on a 100km (ok 98km) race, which I am happy with!!!! The first time ever I got to ride with bunches and actually feels what it?s like to not have to ride on your own for 4 hrs. I rode like crazy to try and get in under 3hrs, but that wind and not eating didn?t really help! So next time!!! I ended on a 3:24:18.Thumbs%20Up

Same thing happened in the Junior bunch, Some stupid GIT decided to sprint on the return leg and had a bad highside Ambulance finish for him.

Then there was a break with 3 Harmony riders 2 Mr Price and bliksempie in telkom kit.  Douglas switched Wayne and he took a EINA tumble.  Two riders decide to further help him into the tar and took of

Ja, that crash.  It was a guy with a AL number that came past on the right hand and hit a cat eye right in front of me, he the was thrown right into the middle of the bunch and when he fell took about 5 or 6 riders with him. I don't know why and what he was sprinting for - Moron
