This is cheating I know, but i just take the new road up next to the fence there. MUCH nicer riding!

But yeah, that bit is tough, give it time though mate, you will get there in the end. The trick is momentum, go as fast you can and keep the pace (in other words you need to know your line really well), and a thing i do is lift my front wheel over the rocks, then push myself forward, letting the rear follow. it kills your energy though...

momentum and gear selection...i would assume...

It is super tricky...I managed the 1st section, but had to walk the 2nd section...

Only attempted it once...

geez kerels, really glad i'm not the only one who battles there. I've tried momentum, which works until you lose it, tried slow and steady lines, however keep on losing traction..mostly i just fall over and swear.

To quote Mohammed Ali - "Float like a butterfly..."

That section is completely rideable, though challenging.

The trick is threefold:

Momemtum as stated

High cadence

Line - To the right for the first 2/3 and then over to the left for the last 1/3.

Has anyone here managed to ride up Onion Hill, the whole way up? That's just too hectic, we've tried and tried and failed. I've never even seen anyone do it.

Once, in the dark, on a night ride with Kritzie, with a few beers in our bellies. Never repeated the feat though.

I think it's time for another Hub ride at Groenies. Who's keen?

Onion hill is a lot easier to ride now than a few years ago but I know people who have done it . The rocky climb on the fence side on the other hand has become very technical but is still very ridable . To do the climb along the fence is just sooooo boring !!!

And time : tomorrow morning 6am ?
