Had the pleasure of riding some of the purpose built MTB trails at the Lake Eland Nature Reserve over the last week.

Wow!

Must be one of the KZN's MTB'ers best kept secrets for sure!

From easy dirt road to gnarly rocky single track down in the valley. Some nice climbing too.

Stumbled onto a nice drop in, claw your way out purpose built hole (Thanks Dura Cycles).

That video showcases the awesome scenery but doesn't do the trails justice. There's some really awesome riding to be had out there! I'd recommend anyone in the area to make an effort to check it out for themselves.

You couldnt be more right!! awesome awesome riding to be had there  one bit of advice, when flying down some single track on your own mission - be careful and be aware of a possibility of a few charging wildebeest

Dude!

This became my Best MTB race for 2010. Besides the singletrack at Karkloof it can not be beaten for variation. Awesome singletrack, fast road, cliff edge riding (Cliff EDGE), nice little rock gardens, and the race for 2010 was SPOT ON organised. Just wished they had started batches seeded, cause the first few K's of ST held us up a bit.

There like a bear this year.

5 Big Chilli's - and if you ain't been yet, what ya waitin' for.

Thanks 4 the clip!

hi is this still worth doing? and safe?

Scubes

It's definitely worth doing. They recently had the MTB classic race there, so the trails are in good nic and well marked.

Its also safe as it's in a game reserve. The riding on the edge of the cliff mentioned above isn't actually right on the edge, even though it feels like it is.

The top half will have less climbing but is more rough and rocky on the way back down. The bottom half has some steeper & more fun trails, but is a lot of climbing back out, up the access road.
