Bike reviews?

Where can one find independent reviews for various bikes i.e. ride comfort, handling, responsiveness, build quality and parts.

 

Looking to buy a new bike but need to do some product review and pricing?

 

Any help would be appreciated

I use this before I buy new tyres or other components. The forums (fora?) are also useful for picking up info on the more exotic (in my case, that means old) bikes.

You can also flip through the older Tread magazines.

And check out Bike Magic. They seem to have slowed down on the new reviews, but the ones they have are pretty good.

If you haven't found the reviews you're looking for on those sites, then your best bet is Google

I also like bikeradar.

 

Some of the user reviews on mtbr are very biased, and a lot of top quality products get mixed reviews, but when you read through the reviews you will soon realise whether the reviewer is a scheister or not. Then you just need to filter out the useless reviews and use the sensible ones as a base for your decision.

 

I think online reviews are great for selecting components, but for full bikes ride-before-you-buy is your friend.

For road bikes, the best "experienced rider" tests are done by Charles Manantan on pezcyclingnews.com imo.

He tests mostly high end bikes with high end components, then builds the frame up and tests with a standard buuild, so he can feel out different frames with same wheels, hbars etc.
