That is rather daming evidence I must say.

'fess up VELO CYCLES - which is it? Are you involved in the design of the bikes or just the spray job?

Ah tis a grey area this "custom spray and sell" taiwanese bike business...

Its a viable model, and the reason I know about x-pace is because I have looked at it myself. The frames direct from Taiwan are dirt cheap and there is decent profit to be made. Just pisses me off when people use marketing BS to try and sell me stuff. Why not just be open about it and try and blow us away with superior service and prices.

Let's see what VELO SPORTS comes back with.

I'm going to keep my "grab burning torch and head for VELO SPORTS' house" attitude in check until then :D

If it turns out they're only spray and selling then I shall crucify them at the stake.

You are correct that we have used shared moulds for some of our 2011 bikes as many other manufacturers (Da Rosa, Johann Museeuw, Colnago, Eddy Merckx) do but from 2012 there will be no shared moulds on any of our bikes.

For now however, the key defining points that differentiate Swift Carbon are as follows :

1) Swift Purchases its own Carbon filament directly from Mitsubishi Rayon and Torayca in Japan – these are the 2 best filament producers in the World . X Pace frames are made of neither , they are standard “ Sports Grade “ Carbon purchased in Taiwan .

2) Swift Purchases its own NanoTech resins from Germany and imports them to China . X Pace frames only use a similar resin on Certain frames , and this is not the German technology we use .

3) Swift has its own engineer at the factory to oversee the Carbon Layup process within the moulds . The layup process is a very key ingredient to getting greater Carbon filament alignment which equates to greater lateral stiffness where it matters most ( BB / Head Tube ) – X Pace do not do this and they work from a generic standard layup drawing .

4) Swift utilizes a special Moulding technology in all its frames that does not use Air bags when we mould the frames . This is a key differentiator as the X Pace frames use airbags for moulding . The difference here is that we can get the walls smoother and stronger and with less de-lamination using this process .

5) We have our own QC in the factory at all point of production , X Pace , nor any other carbon factory don’t do this on their generic frames . This is to guarantee the quality .

6) Swift Carbon HQ is setup in Taiwan to ensure the best build quality and to monitor the build process from start to finish.

Thanks for the comprehensive response! Don't know enough about frame manufacture to comment on the veracity, but certainly sounds plausible.

Nice work on the detailed response Velo Sports! Goes a long way to building faith in the brand.

The bikes do look awesome, but I'm not finding any reviews out there. Is this a new brand? Also, is this brand solely targeted at the SA market (as per the Volcan business model) or will the brand be available globally?

You can see they are global from the athlete shots and race results in their facebook page:

This being the case then I appologise unreservedly for my comments and I sincerely wish that Swift becomes a huge South African success story. I'm going to go find a big rock to hide behind.

The first few mtb frames that came across almost all cracked. Is this issue sorted out?

OK then! So its safe to assume that the MTB frames still cracks where the seatpost enters the frame. Glad its cleared up

Hi, thank you for the reply. Another question - is there any way of knowing(other than paint job) for sure that you get a Swift frame and not a Xpace ?
