Long rides & hot feet

Recommended Posts

Specialized make some innersoles with metatarsal buttons or something which you can replace your current innersoles with- probably worth a try.

Did you change the amount of training recently?

I use to suffer from this as well, absolutely horrible! Bought specialized (shoes) and problem solved. Somethings I still get a medium hot feet when I have chilled for a while and then do long hours.

what cleats, maybe your q factor is wrong (Sounds impressive??) move your cleats inwards, away from your small toes.

Anybody know who might sell these specialised insoles in Cape Town

cycles direct in tableview might have some, or should be able to get as they stock specialized products.

Texas Sally (nice name Smile)!

Don't buy anything yet, first get to the root of this.

Think back carefully - what did you change 5 months ago? And it might be something in the 'rest' of your life, not neccessarily something cycling or training related.

Some good suggestions here. Those soles sound like a good idea.

My contribution:

I occasionally get hot feet for no apparent reason. What I usually do is loosen the velcro straps or ratchet slightly. It may be that you are retaining water (for whatever reason) which leaves you feet slightly bloated. Feet naturally swell a tad during riding which may aggravate the problem.

Slick

my feet my swell... but I do NOT retain water... and i do NOT bloat...

Whoa... didn't mean to offend. Guys suffer water retention & bloating too. Wink

Even extra blood being pumped through the legs sometimes gets trapped in the feet by shoes that are just a bit tight. Just try loosening the straps a tad. On a long ride it's not uncommon to adjust straps quite often.

edit: LOL @ FF. I think he's in bigger trouble than me.
