A BIG UP to Shaun and the Team at Zululand cycles in Balito !!! We are down for a week's holiday in Umhlanga in KZN, and part of our holiday is to do us much MTB riding as we can while down at the cost. As luck would have it, my front shock seized after my first ride> So there I was, with no bike o ride, and all the workshops were full, and no-one could help to service my Fox shock.

With a frantic call to Shaun at Zululand cycles, who were servicing my bike and fixing my rear brakes, Shaum decided to take on the repair of my shock. After waiting a few minutes in teh shop, the owners offered us a cup of coffee, something I have not previously experienced in a bike shop. Soon my bike was ready, and off I was for a long awaited ride at Holla trails, just accross the highway.

Once again thanx to the team at Zululand cycles in Balito

+1 for Shaun from zululand

Xmas 2009, down in ballito, bike is boning and I am ready to hit holla hard for a week or so. On the first morning I realize I forgot my shoes at home(in the vaal) and in desperation I end up at zululand cycles ready to buy a new pair that I wont use again. I tell Shaun my story and he lends me his training shoes for my week's stay without knowing me from a bar of soap. What a legend

I now make a point of stopping there whenever we are down and buy a couple of items. If only all lbs had his attitude.

What size are you, so I know I can rely on him in the future? :D

but seriously, what a lekker oke, always have time for a chat. He knows holla well and can advise on the best trails.

Speaking of holla, I believe you can hire SC tallboys there now, wont be schleping my bike down to the coast anytime soon.

We hired them at the end of 2010. Both are mediums. Not sure of the daily rental +- R400 each.

Ja I asked and I was told one was a Large. Boy I was tempted, but wasn't so keen to have to ride it home to Jhb on my own...

I used to ride with Shaun, he is a wealth of knowledge and used to feature strongly in the road racing not too long ago. Definitely an all round nice guy

I live in Ballito, but work in Pinetown.

About a 18 months ago I went into Zululand cycles to check what bar ends and other things they had in stock. Saw an identical set of bar ends that I had seen in my LBS in Pinetown for not 10% more expensive, not 20%, but double the price. So I turned around and walked out and never went back.

When my bike needs work that I can't do, I put it on the back of my car and drive it all the way to Pinetown instead of taking it to Zululand cycles.

Now that I've read this review of the service you get from them, I will re-think my opinion of them.

I also make the trip to Pinetown from Ballito.
