And here i thought the best lube was KY.

Have to agree with the different lubes for different rides,

but i think as long as your drive train is clean then you can use pretty much any lube and it will work.

Wax works better for not getting your clothes and drive train black.

Squirt is nice and clean but only usefull in dry conditions.Since it now is winter and you are from my valley and it doesn't rain here in winter it will be a good choice for now, BUT if summer returns and the lekker mud is back it will be useless. In summer rather go with something oil based.

Boeshield T9. Now that is some good stuff. And it almost looks like 'Bos Held' (that's how I misread it first time I looked at the bottle. Then I noticed it's made from some aero-grade lube from Boeing, which as you will appreciate, is very important when oiling your chain).

Nice and clean on the MTB and very long lasting.

+1 for Bos Held, I have used it for some time now, moved from Squirt, Finishline etc.

There was a hubber here, cannot remember his name his comment summed it up "Lube is like religion, everyone has his own"

You can use anything from fish oil to vaseline to Shell Helix....

When this thread reaches 100 replies you will still have about 120 various options. Wait for the debate to start, where is JB?

I am looking for the best all round day to day chain lube. Preferably one that won't turn me or my clothes black. Any ideas?

There is no place for racism on this forum.

+1 I do a 4 step process

Step 1: Take cain off and clean it in a Coke bottle with benzene clean cassette RD FD and chain rings with clean green, Rinse and dry chain

Step 2: Run chain through chanin cleaner with clean green in it

Step 3: Dry chain and lube every second roller with White lighting wet ride rotate cranks sevral times, wipe off excess lube with soft dry cloth

Step 4: Apply Boeshield T9 while rotating cranks- rotate cranks- allow to dry for 4 hours- wipe off excess

Works like a charm, chain runs in all conditions and stays clean for 2 or 3 long rides.
