I ride a volvo, When I sent it in to have the brakes replaced specifically along with a service, I told them that it is important for them to replace my brakes. I received a call later in the day stating that my cars was done and I could collect. I asked the service advisor if the brakes were replaced and he didnt even know. He called me back saying that the technician said it doesnt have to be replaced. After a few words, and suggesting they take the wheels off and check my pads.... well. Anyways lets just say that the longer I own a volvo, the more worse the sevice and I dont rate them as the safest cars in the world any longer.

Always wanted a Volvo till friends bought that 4x4 Station Wagon (2nd hand) - I thought they got an excellent deal as it looked and rode awesome. Well they have now spent 60% of the purchase price fixing the vechile.

My dad's merc went into limp mode occasionally. Dealer says it is the turbo that is busted, and quotes R32K for a replacement. Took it to a non-affiliated merc specialist who figures it is one of the catalytic converters that is blocked. It cost R600-00 and one cat converter less in the car(it has four in total, for all the guys yelling global warming). Apparently the turbo sensed an overpressure due to the blockage, which initiated limp mode.

I too always wanted a volvo, this must have been the worst buy of my life. Part of my profession is buying and selling and I cant even explain how dissapointed I am about this purchase

My friends wife is an MD and they thought with the Volvo she could use it for work (she manages buildings in Cape Town - Somerset West) and they could go camping, etc - there old Uno which they gave their son has turned out to be more reliable. They are stuck in that situation where they cannot sell the car as its worthless but they still owe more than its book value.

I know the feeling prior to the volvo I had a Ford. What service I received. The guys always kept me informed about anything about my car, and always advised me about when certain things needed to be done. Before the focus I had an Uno too. I now regret having traded it in.

I am fortunate to have found a friend who is a machanic in his spare time (he qualifid as one)He now fixes my whole familys cars and is honest , believe it or not , cost is a fraction of "bloody agents"

These Agents rip you off whole sale , he (the mackie) has told me plenty stories of guys been quoted outragous amounts for simple jobs , especially women :(

In the defence of the agents they have to pay HUGE rent for their fancy showrooms and premisis , but still no reason to rip off the public , SHAME ON YOU :(

Was looking at a volvo xc60 but it looks like I should rather look at a Audi Q5.

Over the last 4 years I have come to find out that practically all volvo models have suspension issues. I know some people with s40, s60, xc90, the station wagon, and these have suspension problems too. I know of someone else who owns a volvo and there is some turbo issue and these guys couldnt determine the problem for about a year. That is pathetic.

audi's service aint that awesome either. the pricks are hardcased based on the popularity of their products.

Mine gave me endless sh1te, mostly (what I wuold consider) substandard dump valves, and often poor workmanship when replacing components. Also, dont buy into the 1.8T/2.0T range: it's a cash cow price point for Audi. Either down or up is where you get either value for money, or proper bang for your buck.

If it werent for this sh1ite service, and lack of motivation to upgrade, i woulda been playing with an RS4 by now. oh well, next time, but it may just be a turn for BMW. Those M3s and M1s perform just
