I am not sure if any other cyclists feel this way, but I feel that the organisers of the Tour Durban race should have made the registration venue a little more central. I feel it is a bit of a snub of the cyclists who are on the South Coast to have to drive all the way to Umhlanga to register. My father is a pensioner and the cost of petrol to him on a fixed income to have to drive to Umhlanga, together with fees is rather burdensome. I do realise that riders come from the North Coast too, but surely for an event such as this, a central Durban location should be chosen for registration.

Couldn't agree more!! For me it is a return trip all the way from Howick on both Saturday and then again on race day, what a waste of money...just to collect a piece of paper.

I did email the organiser and was told that one can't pick up number on the morning of the race

It is a simple process to pick up the number.

Question: Are there any hubbers going to the registration who could possibly collect my number and I'll grab it from you on the morning of the race?? It would save me a rtn trip from Howick...

where does he drive from? spare a though from anyone in the midlands or further who want to race lol seems this is a marketing opportunity for gateway as well

Boycott the races and email the organisers with he reason why. They will have to change things. But us white South Africans never take a stand and are even willing to pay for the vaseline before we get shafted.

Dunno, Umhlanga is pretty central for me considering it's my home area. I do, however, agree with you that picking up the paper one day and not on the race day is a bit backwards.

Registration and goodie bags are a rip off. For R245 they should be able to post your number to you! If CSA can email your licence to you then anyone can do it!!

I will collect anybody's number etc if allowed too.

Shouldn't be too much of a hassle....stand in the queue and rattle off the required registration numbers to the person at the table? I have the time. Can only carry so many "goodie bags" though.

Gathering of the clans, so to speak. Will help if I can but only for Hubbers-how do you pay back a website that has helped me enormously?

Can get there early, park off and you phone me for directions or I could meet at a central place? Suggestions?

Wat se julle?

Hi sepia

Have just sent the organizer an email to find out if this is possible...will get back to you as soon as I get a reply. I'm sure there are others who require the same.

thanks

@sepia have sent you a PM. It is possible for others to collect numbers...all that is needed is a letter with ID number to confirm this.

That is absolutely useless!!! How many people will be forgetting their timing chips at home etc. and if others have kindly offered to collect race numbers for those from far away, as Sepia has done for me, how are they meant to get the timing chip???

I have once before forgotten my timing chip at a Mr Price timed event on day before race registration, and was told to simply scan the chip on the morning of the race...I think many will be in the same situation with this event.
