How much does these wheels cost? And the DT swiss ones plus minus?

What would be the drawbacks when riding with these (tubbies)??

I think EDGE makes them aswel?

Now known as ENVE and not EDGE any longer due to the Taiwanese based Edge brand... just putting it out there to save any confusion.

Tires choices and if cut a side wall , your ride will be over unless you carry a spare tubbies with you ( and you better pre stretch them or you wont get them on alone!))

also gluing process takes days .

I think EDGE makes them aswel? think so

I think the wheels are the new dt XRC 950T tubulars , with dugust hand made tires , sealed with Aquasure flexible sealant! nice set up!!

They are Dugast tires that his dad helped design.

I would guess price and longevity.

Yeah, man -

Lighter also means one gives up robustness and toughness in most cases.

Especially, with the rigor and demand of off-road.

Lighter isn't always better for the amateur.

Nice one , sorry about the spelling, they are great tires , had the privilege to fit them this year , dugast also makes them for many road pros .

Dugast? never heard of that before.

Dugast tyres are made in the Netherlands and are used my many Pro's on Road,Mtb and cyclcross. They are big in Europe.

They will also make you a Mtb tyre by puting your tyre tread of choice on there casing.

All tyres are made by hand.

what would the drawbacks be of riding Carbon MTB tubbies?

Rode the inaugural 100miler a couple of years back with a guy with carbon tubbies. To this day still the worst cycling conditions I've encountered. So about 14km from the end they guy cuts the tubbie badly. This is after 8 or 9h of rain, mud and a constant headwind. So what can you do, he said he'll phone his wife but I could see the guy was very very bleak about not finishing after a titanic struggle..

Saw him at another race a couple of weeks later, noticed he had a brand spanking new wheelset. Turns out he was so gatvol with the tubbies he rode the last 14km on the carbon rim, writing of 5k in the process and chucked them.. Hope it partly answers your question.
