It was one of those SA Express 70 seater De Havillands.

 

We did have a tail wind on the return flight.

 

I don't know the ins and outs of turboprop vs jet... all I know is that it was noisy as hell in there!

 

Turbo props are quite noisy but if you fly often enough in them you get used to it. They are very reliable and require shorter takeoffs and landings, especially on dirt strips. The Astra's used by the Siver Falcon's off SAAF are Pilatus turboprops.
