I want to buy a Spez S-works epic 29er - the lum yellow and grey frame. cant get this color in SA and cant get stock of the one we can get anyway.

I know Spex SA will not cover frame warrenty but not worried about that as will have it insured.

Anybody know of any bike shops I could try buy from in the States?

help will be much appretiated!!

I know www.jensonusa.com ships to SA... at a price of course. Plus they don't do Spesh... only Yeti, Intense, Rocky Mountain and a few others.

Sorry, not much help

Ja, you'll battle to get a bike shop to do Spez for the reasons mentioned above.

I personally bought mine in coming back from the states and had a family friend bring one in for my dad. The best bet is to have someone on that side ship it for you, i.e. buy online and send to 3rd party and get them to forward it to you. Sommer in 2 shipments to save on duties..

To me buying outside of SA is the only way to own a Spez, local prices are crazy. Just out of interest, I got a warranty frame locally when I cracked the first one, because I still had all the original paperwork etc proving I was the original owner, but since then I think that ship might have sailed.

Good luck

Yes you have to be a bit careful on ebay, but I managed to source a couple of Lefties and other parts there. Finding a seller that is prepared to ship outside the USA is a challenge. And payment via Paypal gives some security.

I agree, try Ebay plus if the seller does not want to ship internationally you can use a forwarding agent who provides you with a legitimate USA address and then forwards the stuff on to you.

I have made extensive use of this and it works well, especially if you see something you really want either on Ebay or a local supplier, no more delivery hassles.

yes, I have used myus.com with no problems, also for IT bits & pieces. However some seller will only ship to your Paypal or CC address

I bought a bike in the US a couple of years ago and the site offered free shipping in the US.

I opened an account with www.myUS.com. They provide an address in the US (somewhere in Florida I think). You give their address as your US address and they forward the parcel as soon as they receive it.

The whole process took less than 2 weeks and they delivered the bike right to my office.

I can't remember the exact cost, but it was less than R2000 in total.

Rubbish! I got my S-Works Tarmac SL3 for roughly half the price of a Trek Madone and much cheaper than many other mid-level frames. Local prices on Spez are actual not bad at all!
