Omega, how much did you pay for the delivery on the wheels?

100 Great British Pounds. Ouch!

So the wheelset cost

113 GBP for the wheelset

100 GBP for delivery and R350 for VAT.

Having said that I was looking at a Nukeproof set and it would have been about R500 more. even with the frankly stupid cost of delivery.

When it comes to headsets I recomend taking your bike to a shop to get it done. Headsets are super finiky to install and often specialist tools are required to remove the old one and install the new one. Using a hammer and screwdriver (been there) is a really bad idea and can end up costing you a ruined headset or even worse a ruined frame.

Luckily for Dill, his friend has all the tools and expertise from his recent long travel hardtail build

I've been back and forward over getting a set. Was thinking of the rear trizoid hub and tank evo hub at the front with purple rims for my Izimu. What set did you go for? AMX?

Ok cool, will stay away from that then.

What about this one then? http://www.buycycle....et-ec44-40.html

Cane Creek 40's are good. But be careful, they are often sold as 2 seperate parts (upper and lower), and I have a feeling that in this case, what is advertised is only the lower cups.

There are many different cup sizes, all dependent on the internal diameter of the headtube. Based on the Intense frame which 2Nutz bought, and his headset questions, a 44mm cup may be too big for your 5.5

Another thing to keep in mind is your future fork. You mentiond that you would like a Fox. Most Fox forks these days are tapered. Even if your frame does not have a tapered head tube, you may (depending on diameter) be able to fit a tapered fork with the correct headset.

So it may be worth holding off a bit on the headset for now.

Thanks for the info dude  Will wait for a while until I can get the fork and then upgrade the headset at the same time.

Ja. AMX. They're listed on the website as 130 GBP. I can't comment on the longevity of them cos they aren't even out of the box yet but they look like a quality part. Also you will pay a bit less than the listed price cos that includes UK VAT.

I tried to source a hub locally but it was over 2k for a hope hub that would fit. And that was jsut the hub. Add another few hundred ronts for lacing and I thought **** that siht.

What he said. I'm not sure you'd be able to fit a tapered steerer fork into a 5.5 frame. That's the primary reason i didn't buy one of those 5.5's. As I have a lyric with a tapered steerer. Welcome to the wonderful world of MTB "standards"

The ones I got you have a choice of black with some more black. But ja. love the colours on the other wheelsets. I also like the fact that you can get Mavic rims with their custom wheels.

DO NOT BUY ANYTHING WITH THE WORDS CRANK BROTHERS WRITTEN ON IT!!

If someone gives you something with Crank Brothers written on it for free you should ask yourself what you did to make them so angry with you.

Ye its like a BMX headtube or Cotic.

Doubt anything will work angleset or tapered.

11/8 barely has any play inside 34mm.

Stack height & 150mm is your best bet.

But its designed for 100-130mm ,so def think 160mm would be pushing the gusset.

Crow, you've had your Superstars for awhile now, how are they?

I Know I've only had mine since yesterday but I have to say they look great and seem rather well made. They really have the look of a quality product. Just remember that they WILL smash you 100pounds for delivery so add that to your cost. It's frankly crazy that on the cost of my wheels half of that is the cost of getting them to me.

But it's also crazy that I was quoted R2000 for a HUB

:( Calling me fat again. Hurts :(

And Im 97kg FYI :P

All Whyte carbon bikes have a 114kg weight limit. I would still not recommend carbon bikes to guys in the 90kg+ They put a bit of extra wear and tear on things... That's regardless of brand. It's less important though if you are not the type to jump or ride aggressively. I do have guys 85kg+ riding them though...
