hmmmmm, pity it is so old though

That is a pity. Read some bad reviews on the earlier 575 models (circa 07/08) about rear triangle failure. Seems that they changed the rear triangle setup with later versions.

What kind of riding do you want to do?

The Zula is a 100mm travel bike, the 575 is a 5.75" trail bike.

I have a mate with a Zula - he loves it. But then my brother has a Yeti, and is really happy with it.

It just strikes me as a lot of money for a 2008 frame.

I saw a 2011 Anthem frame at Cajees for R10000. They are brilliant and you could probably bargain them down a bit.

Thanks Nolipoli, I do mostly XCO/XCM riding. Was toying with the idea of getting a (lightish) longer travel bike, say 120-140mm upfront. The Zula can only accommodate a 4" fork. Not keen on a 29er (maybe a SS later on) and was looking for a decent frame; planning on using my existing wheels (ZTR 355's on hope Pro 2's) with a new X0 build. Agree with you on the Yeti being priced a bit steep for yesteryear's frame..

I have a size large Santa Cruz Heckler frame that I'm considering selling.....140 mm Vanilla Fox up front., Chris King headset, Thompson seat post and matching stem. Frame is in mint condition.

For a moment there I thought you were giving buying advice on MTB's, that would be really funny! I think mint condition is a lie - Have you taken that bike off the tar?

On the topic, there were a number of frame failures on the older YETIs, but I have yet to come across a YETI rider who didn't really love his bike. Phone Morningside Cycles, they should be able to help with pricing AFAIK they are the agents.

I would go for the Zula - but thats just because I ride one. best bike I ever had - but then again I have never ridden yeti or SC.

Bang for buck I would have to back the Wood!

Maybe chat to Average guy on the hub - he has had both - he will give you a honest opinion.

A Zula is a race bike and a 575 is an all mountain / have fun on the trails bike. Why does that comparison keep coming up ?

To the OP's question, I think the prices are still steep for frames that are nearly 4 years old - Most manufacturers are starting to launch their 2012 frames already. Yeti Dealers are clearing stock to make way for the SB66.

A good deal on CRC is Tomac Snyper 140, if you looking for a AM bike and it's a 2011 frame.

But a Yeti is a Yeti .. just get a newer one .. :)
