You're kidding, right?

I got unsolicited phone call from miway, and because of their involvement in cycling, I figure I wont go ballistic, I'll give em an opportunity to quote on all my stuff. After a while, they've got all my info, and I say, look, gotta run, e-mail me the quote and then call at 6pm to discuss it.

No e-mail, no quote, but I did have the pleasure of some moron from Miway phoning me at least once a day for a month asking me why I didn't accept their quote.

The first couple of times I politely explained that I hadn't received it, could they please send it again.

Still no luck.

Only after I threatened to find the moron and beat it with a bat, did the phone calls stop.

My story.

Stay the hell away from miway.

Hang on a sec... So if I buy a 2nd hand bike from a guy off the hub, what constitutes an invoice? It's not like I bought it from a shop or anything.

Dude. You get your local (the one you use and are friendly with) LBS to evaluate the bike and state, with details, the replacement value. On their letterhead.

EDIT: PARTICULARLY IF YOU BOUGHT A ZULA !!

I was with Cyclesure, and they gave brilliant service. My insurance broker (for my house & car) told me that they wouldn't be able to beat their premiums or deal. When I bought my new bike and changed cars in Fevruary/March, I asked my broker to quote on the bikes and the car and and and.

I now pay about 45% less through my house holders insurance than i did with Cyclesure. I suggest that maybe you have a broker re-look at your house holders insurance policy or get someone else to quote on it. As an idea, i have the following insured:

2011 Polo Vivo

1 x MTB

1 x TT Bike

R125k household cover

R10k unspecified items

Laptop/POLAR/Camera specified Items

I live in Illovo, JHB

i'm 27

My premium is R1475.0.

PM me if you want mr brokers details

Ive got a polo TDi

1 roadbike (30k)

275k householders

Tag heuer watch

Laptop,camera,sigma HR

Wifes wedding ring (25k)

Live in EL,35

Premium R876

Insured with Alex Forbes

Well done for posting that for the world to see nubbin.

By tomorrow morning my guess is you are going to be claiming for all but the Polo. :D

Cyclesure quoted me R350 for R50k cover.

I'm paying R130 at the moment through AFI (Forbes)

AFI is the best. Had to claim a few times. No questions asked except what happened and a quote

AFI is the way to go

Cyclesure is still the best insurer around for cycles. I have been with them for 5 years and the returns I have gotten from them far outweigh what I have paid to them. With all the riding I do, especially outside of the country, they are the only guys I trust to sort me out quickly and in whichever country I get quotations from. Twice I have been out the country and within two days from wrecking I have the cash in my bank account and cycle replaced same day. Inside the country they sort you out with whoever can supply what you need and just s quickly.

I have never had a problem even with touch and go claims. They just pay out if it is genuine damage or theft.

Shame dude! Your wife's ring is cheaper than your bike.

Just be carefull with cyclesure when you need to replace something like a crashed wheelset you will pay premium excess.

I'm with outsurance at the mo have yet to put them to the test ,but excess is fixed @ R450 no matter what component you claim for.

I have heard from a number of people that claims are not always paid out with outsurance and it is often a mission at times. Would rather pay the premium and get the new kit for it.

I am with cyclesure and received a review email for my policy, they specifically pointed out that I won't be covered if my bikes stolen from my premises when unattended unless locked to an immovable object. This is way impractical coz all my bikes are in one bedroom so what immovable object am I supposed to chain them to. Its a bit unreasonable and impractical and if they insist on this I will look around for alternative insurance.

Does miway/aforbes/outsurance got anything stupid like this?
