Anybody had their Stans start forming coral like balls in their wheels??

Heard something rolling around in both wheels, so checked it out and this is what the sealant was doing inside?

Just over 2 months....

Yip i had that. Bombs can cause that to happen apparently but ive never used a bomb and mine crystalized anyway. Trying out the sealant from Specialised now which is not supposed to harden. <_<

There was still quite a bit a "liquid" sealant in there.... and i did a topup, but worries me a bit that the "good stuff" that actually makes the puncture plug, is now a "Coral reef" lying on my work bench!!!! Now Just milk rolling around in my tyres??.... I must say though, last week i got a proper puncture... sealant sprayed out, but it did seal...

Yeah i fell victim to this during the gravel travel this weekend,

My rear kept on deflating and after using all my bombs to try and get going again i finally gave up ripped the wheel off and found one of those beauty's inside. oh well i should have known better and checked pre-race.

It happens to most sealants. It is accellerated when you play with your tyre pressures, have extreme temprature fluctuations and I suspect that change in air pressure may also play a role. I topped up before this year's Sani2C and removed a marshian the size of a golf ball after puncturing on day 1.

Checked my tyres last week and I found a very nice Coral in my rear tyre and the sealant had dried up. Front was fine with enough sealant to last for awhile. Last top-up was about three months ago although I did use a bomb on the rear. Using the last of my Stans and then try something else.
