Just take the spacers out as a starting point and see how you go. Then maybe get a flatter stem.

Admittedly I'm a luddite more used to quill stems, but don't you just flip these modern things to get them flat?

You could flip it but it would look even more daft with spacers going up and stem going down.

That's where it all starts..... They teach them to knit in grade 3 in Cape Town..... Next thing you know they flashing their home made thongs at Graaf's Pool....
