I used to play a lot in the past but 5-6 hrs on the course, plus some time on the 19th, ate into my cycling and family time too much. so now I only play 1-3 times per year - corporate events. AND I work for a big corporate, which does not help!!

So enjoy!!! Weather is stunning nowadays!

The Pro Shop is a dangerous place to vist during their annual sale. Your wallet seems to empty itself for no apparent reason. I recently bought myself the new TaylorMade Burner irons and they're awesome.

Wayne: "Caddy, do you think I will get there with a 5 iron?"

Caddy: "Yes sir, eventually"

Wayne: "Caddy, you are the worst caddy ever!"

Caddy: "Impossible sir, that will be too much of a coincidence."

My problem with golf is that I stand too close to the ball...after I hit it.

Enjoy your round tomorrow.

Ok, so this is what i bought on sale.

Taylormade burner driver

Odyssey putter for me

Odyssey putter for the wife

Skirt for the wife

Top for the wife

2x shorts for me

1 x top for me

2 x belts

1 x callaway golf shoes

a crap load of new golf balls

6 pairs of socks

laser rangefinder

Now i am officially broke.

Anyone else been lately to the sale?

As a matter of interest and being a non golfer myself what do you spend more on if you total everything up - Golf or Cycling. My Golfing buddies at work are alway horrified at what cycling costs but when I question them it seems as golf is not far behind.

About the same to be fair.

A decent set of irons is around R6k, Driver another R3k.

Some rescue clubs and a putter, a fairway wood etc, add at least another R3-5k

Shoes R1k, Clothes, R1k.

Its about the same as a midrange bike.

But a round of golf is a bit pricey.

I am lucky that i play only during the week, and i play special days, so i keep this cost low.

But a two ball with cart even on a special is around R400 to R600.

Then its lunch, colddrinks and a beer or two.

I suppose thats more or less what a race would cost for two with travel food etc.

Interesting comparison - Thanks.

Anyone want to buy a set of hardly used Cleveland clubs? Been gathering dust in my garage ever since I got back on the bicycle about 3 years ago! ;)

I used to be a golfer...... now, all I can think about is bicycles and bike gear.... anyways, went to the pro shop as I had a voucher to spend.... after spending an hour there milling through the sale items, i walked out with..... WAIT FOR IT...

Sun spray and nice socks that I can use for cycling....
