What a fightback by lanky Hesjedal.

Rodriguez countered and just couldn't stay in pink.

Basso gained some secs over Astana leader, Krueziger.

What a final climb!

Did the Cav finish or did he retire from the Giro?

Mark Cavendish safely negotiated the stage within the time limit, and the Team Sky rider even extended his lead in the sprinters' red jersey competition

Not if you check the cars...

"400 metres from the summit of the Stelvio in the 2005 Giro. An Epic stage. Snow shut the road the day after, but with the help of snow ploughs the road was open to race this day. Yes Graham Watson has a similar shot, he was stood not far from where I was stood!"

I know it's 2005, just teasing

Okay.

Goss, Renshaw retired.

Prepping for TDF now.

Basso limiting damage and showed great leading of the main bunch at some point.

Looking good, looking good.

Naa, me too, when he followed Rujano yesterday and took a minute or two on the gruppo, I thought "thats it" Pink jersey for the little Prince tonight, and then "What the...." he sits up and waits. To say I was seriously disappointed is an understatement.!

Yeah, although to be honest I dont know why he used up his team like that. today is another tough day and although tomorrow is a rest day, his team cant lead the whole week through the mountains, maybe he has a plan no-one else can fathom, but most of the pundits are saying that was a silly move.

Anyway, he was there at the end with no significant loss and thats all that matters, Kreuziger lost a bit of time which surprised me, but Scarponi is still looking strongest to me, he chases down breaks, rides at the front, and constantly tries to get away.

I just hope he is not wearing himself out now and collapses on the big mountains.

Leaky Gas train have been consistently driving the peloton forward.

It's gutsy and it shows good team form.

I, too, hope it pays off.
