Eugene Posted October 11, 2011 Posted October 11, 2011 I would go with the Scott option.They have already offered quite a discount on a Scott Foil, but the amount I must pay in is still a huge amount of money. More than what I would be prepared to spend on a bike. Another option is the Scott CR1, they are a bit cheaper, but I don't like CR1's (I don't know why). One of the managers has invited me to discuss the matter with him at their premises. I must just set up an appointment. Going back to the guy from the "new" Raleigh owners. He bent over backwards to try and help

Raleigh and Probike have split.Raleigh UK is now handling the SA market. Probike only doing Scott.

So why are they suddenly liable to sort out the warranty issue if they can't get the required Raleigh frame, they have tried to assist where they can by offering a discount on a Scott frame, Emotion Cycling is also helping out.

No, I did not miss out or misunderstand the (or any?) part of the thread .............. I stay in the "town" where Probike warehouse is located and have regular dealings with the dealers they distribute to. I am well aware that they do not distribute Raleigh anymore (knew about this long before their press releases were issued), but I am also aware of the fact that there are a number of warrantee matters that date back to long BEFORE they stopped distributing the Raleigh brand that has NOT been satisfactorily attended to. It is nonsense to suggest that they cannot source Raleigh frames, now that they no longer distribute it; they had a number of frames still in stock when distribution ceased and many of their dealers also carried stock that they could "buy" back. Nothing stopped them from sourcing via Raleigh UK/ Emotion Cycles. Eugene in reply to whether Probike sorted out his problem states " No. Raleigh UK say Probike is liable, Probike say Raleigh UK is liable ......" and indicates that he has been offered a Scott at a discount. Point I am raising ( and as per usual Hub ethics, feel free to agree or disagree )is that with it known that Probike struggled to sort out all Raleigh issues, are they to be trusted with Scott i.e. in Eugene's case, should he buy a Scott at a discount or insist on a Probike cash settlement that will enable him to buy another brand of bike? Are Raleigh customers going to migrate to the Scott brand ( Probike), will they remain with Raleigh ( new distributors) or will they look elsewhere ?
Eugene Posted October 13, 2011 Posted October 13, 2011 My understanding of the whole thing is that there is some sort of agreement in place in which Raleigh UK will honour all warranty related issues. Probike is offering Scotts at reduced prices in lieu of the warranty in order to retain their customers. Those who don't want to buy a Scott will have their Raleigh warranties addressed by Raleigh UK (or their nominated SA distributor). My issue is not a warranty issue as such, mine is related to the frame re-call that took place some years ago.
