Would have been cool if they could have let young Radaba loose with the new ball.

Its a scorcher in CT, so I suspect that bowlers will be rotated every 4 overs or so. I'm sure we'll see him soon.

I probably would have liked to see Viljoen today in Faf's place. We are one specialist bowler short.

Can't believe there are only three specialist seamers

I don't think that's a problem, our current /previous batting situation seems to be a bigger problem.

To win tests you need 20 wickets. It seems like we are just hell bent on not losing this one opposed to looking to level the series. A mistake imo.

Bavuma is a quota player. Best of the not quite good enough to play international cricket. Surely they could drop Bavuma and put JP in to make place for De Kock.JP offers a bowling option as well. Anyway that is just IMO.

Bavuma's first class record indicates that he certainly is a test level player having scored 4488 runs at an average of 38,03 with a highest of 162 against Australia A in Australia. If memory serves that bowling line up included the likes of Hazelwood, Starc and Mitch Marsh - all of whom are recent/current Australian test players. So referring to Bavuma as a 'quota' player is somewhat misleading. He has been yoyo'ed in and out of the test team and hasn't been given a proper run to cement his place. Remember it is a matter of history that it took Steven Waugh 22 tests to get his first of 40 odd test centuries. Some players take time to adjust to the demands of the next level up, which could be the case with Bavuma as I have not seen anything either in his technique or his temperament that suggests an inability to be able to perform at the highest level of International cricket.

3 out of 3 sessions for England. Bar a monumental collapse we're due to chase leather most of tomorrow. There are going to be a busy physio and 4 tired bowlers at the Proteas' hotel tonight.

Now that Bavuma is in, he deserves a decent run to show what he has got. The promising young players are in the squad - QdK, Rilee, Van Zyl. I guess Rilee will get a chance after Van Zyl.

Yip. Looking at a 450+ first innings score. If not for Rabada's strikes we'd be even further behind the eight ball. Also thought Piedt bowled well enough and kept the runs down. It'll be nice if he could nab a wicket or two tomorrow.

We are going to need the batsmen to produce their best all round display since the last test against the Windies last summer. Not sure that's going to happen as so many of them is in such poor form (Van Zyl, Hash, Faf) and the tail is a bit suspect as well. Don't be too surprised if we concede a big first innings deficit and go on to lose the match.

I am a big fan of Rilee. Kid has serious talent. QDK has more talent than most. Just a bit irresponsible at times. He will mature with age. Van Zyl an excellent player IMO . I just dont think he has that wow factor. But once again this is IMO. Edited by Vetseun
