What does your AM/Trail rig weigh?

my Santa Cruz Blur TRc is roughly 11 - 11.5 kg on the bathroom scale - give or take. definitely under 12. need a more accurate scale - one where my gut hasn't stretched the spring!

Big fan of the Santa Cruz Trc

 

Thompson Cokpit with FSA Nano K Flatbar,

Easton EA90 wheelset,

XTR Trail Groupset,

With pedals and non weight weenie Cane Creek Ergos

 

the bike comes in at just under 11.5kg

My new yeti is about 17 kg. Strong as fark . 7 inches each end. Cant wait to ride it!

 

I beg your pardon? You have a new Yeti with seven in the front and seven in the rear? Sounds very ASR7.. oh, ASX..

My Intense 5.5 comes in at about 12.8 I think, with the new dual-blade-bashguard SLX cranks and 2.35 UST Nevegal on the front. The freakin' thing weighs 1kg on its own!

 

Revelation dual air U-turn (110-140mm)

Swinger air 4-way

SLX shifters, XT derailleurs, SLX dual-blade crankset

CrossRide wheelset, Nevegal USTs (2.35 front, 2.1 back)

King headset, Ritchey WCS stem, MonkeyLite SL 645mm bar

BUT GIRKEN ... not all of us are specced with all the Factory kit like you and Karen are ... bloody unfair ... I want world cup spec parts for free too! hahaahha

Now here is an idea and tell me it it will float (pun, you'll see).. what if frames were airtight and helium was pumped in at the factory. Would it make a difference? :blink:

Dude, I can't remove ANYTHING to give mine a "lighter build kit"

 

when your frame weighs just over 5kg, without the fork, it's kinda hard...

Helium has weight like any gas. Better to suck all the air out and have a vacuum. Some race cars have air tight chassis tubes with a valve and a pressure gauge. You can pump up the chassis and if the pressure drops on the gauge then you know there is a crack somewhere.

Ah, ok so it won't float then. Bummer.

 

I get pumping up the chassis to check for cracks, but does having a vacuum offer any weight advantage?
