Is the mix Agave and Rice syrup , perhaps ?

Nope! Maltodextrin/dextrose/fructose (15g of each, that equals the 2:1 glucose to fructose ratio Jeukendrup promotes) and some concentrace drops for the minerals

How many of you hubbers still believe in the super powers of the energy gels and how many of you ride without it?

I don't think they have "soooper powers".

I think they just do the same job as a choc bar or something, maybe like bananas but in a more instant sugar rush kind of way.

I prefer granola bars and bananas myself, but on longer rides, always take a sachet of goop along in case.

I use Hammer gels. Not as sweet as GU.

I mostly never buy them. I generally have enough for my purposes from goodie bags. Kinda like socks.

When I do buy em, I buy the cheapest ones the dischem has.

Lucky you. I have never got a goodie bag with gels in it.

Pretty much the same, except the syrups are more natural products. Without case studies 32GI is like a placebo.

DV8 plenty of science and case studies posted on the hub over a year ago including an article I wrote for triathlon plus which incorporates the scientific studies into Isomaltulose for endurance seek and u will find plenty around, check out the 32Gi Rocks thread, later m oh one more thing 32Gi launched Accelerate last month designs together with a leading sports scientist in the states ;-) it works like a bomb for racing better than the 2:1 ratio :-) the scientist was mentioned in an earlier post and no it's not Jeukendrup althought I have chatted to him a fair amount :-) enjoy
