Had serious muscle cramp during the burger, and pushed through the pain and discomfort.

2 days later my legs feel f@rked. I can hardly walk and they are sore to touch. Have been stretching them regularly and massaging reperal type gel into the muscle. I clearly pushed the muscles to far.

I can also feel bumps in the muscle, which i can only assume are torn and bleeding fibres.

My question is, how long will it take to heal and when should i start riding again?

Never heals. Just becomes scar tissue. Ride tomorrow. Stop crying.

Deep tissue sports massage it works wonders, and next time you race, -> train harder, your muscles were definitely not used to the intensity you raced at and this is what did the damage. I always say you need to race often in your training otherwise you will never get used to the race intensity and then you are asking for trouble.

You are probably right, trained hard, but not hard enough (intensity) and pushed it to hard, to early on in the race. Good lesson for the future, thanks.

if it makes you feel any better Chubba, I am feeling exactly the same :( it seems no amount of arnica or rubbing is making the pain go away!

deep tissue massage can help break down scar tissue which forms after cramping. I'm resting up this week before getting back on the bike this weekend

easy spinning for the next couple of days. It will hurt, but that is the quickest you will recover

+1. Don't try go balls to the wall - just spin. High cadence stuff. It'll loosen the muscles nicely and let you recover.

I have gone through this a couple of times. Train harder as a few have said. No pain, no gain..... seriously!

Reading the thread about the magalies monster reminded me again of my cramping hell on this years race .Taking 4 teespoons of tablesalt sorted it out in 10 minutes .I was riding with game or rehidrad the whole year in a camelbak after mm .Did pioneer w2w and never cramped .Raced on sunday without my extra salt intake and cramped badly again ,even my jaw muscles cramp.2 salt tablets at home and again 10 minutes later it was gone .In my case increasing salt intake makes the only differance if i cramp or not .I hope this helps somebody with the same problem
