Just heard that one of our local cyclists was hit by a car in Cape Road (Port Elizabeth),close to the Kabega Park police station yesterday !

He was admitted to hospital with a shattered arm and the usual bumps/bruises etc.

I am still trying to get a refund of my expenses from the driver that hit me crossing over Strandfontein 6 weeks ago !

anybody have any details on cyclist fatally knocked down in Firgrove today?

Not very much details Im afraid, I just saw the ambulance and police busy clearing the site on my commute to work.

From what I could see, the cyclist was hit from behind by a Opel Corsa.

There is a yellow lane as big as a lane on that section of road! Either cyclist drifted into the road or Driver was looking at Facebook updates and drifted into cyclist.

Later saw on FB, it was a male, mid 40ies.

RIP fellow cyclist

Where on the Firgrove Road was that Tank?

X marks the spot ... opposite the dam.

Double lanes with one moerse yellow lane.

Accident happened on the side traveling towards Somerset West.

What I don't get is that the road runs north to south and the driver was driving in a southerly direction...

The sun would be on her left...i.e. east ...how did she not see the cyclist ....ohmy.gif

I saw the Corsa on the other side of the road while cycling past. From what I could see, the cyclist was hit solidly in the middle of the car and not on the left side as one would expect.

With such a wide yellow line it is very difficult to drift into the traffic lane  ... but who knows hey
