I am upgrading from a Silverback Nabraska hardtail. Amazing bike for its class of a bit above entry level. (It's also on sale if interested)

I was hoping you guys could help me to decide whether to get yet another hardtail or to go full suspension. Bear in mind I do most of my riding in Tokai Forest and I am looking to be doing some races in the Western Cape area as well as the Wines2Whales. I have thoroughly enjoyed my hardtail and I enjoy the speed it gives me uphill and on the flats. I am still young (18) and can take the beating of a hardtail happily.

Also, what bikes should I go for? My budget, with a push, falls just short of about R30k. Due to me wanting this bike to last for roughly 10 years I do not think it can be carbon. I want a 29er.

I have a few preferences:

Fox Fork with Kashima

Sram XO rear der.

Nothing lower than a Sram X7 front der.

Sram cassette

Elixir CR/7's or Formula - the One brakes

Carbon handlebar

KCNC stem

Richey headset

American Classic or ZTR wheel set

Clean Sweep rotors (180mm front & 160mm rear)

Thomson Elite seat post

DT Swiss quick release

Braded brake cables

Hollow pin Sram chain

It must be able to take 2 bottle cages

I understand I won't find a bike with these things exactly but I'm looking for something that is as close as possible. Thanks guys. I appreciate any help!

Have a look at the Scott Expert 29er, for your requirements you should be able to kit the bike out as you want and trade parts in RRP is R20900 you will get discount so you have about R6k to play with addtional on trade ins

10 years? You will get the itch to upgrade long before that :) I second the Scott option, their 2012 range is very good value for money. And seeing that you come from a Silverback, have a look at their 2012 bikes too.

Thank you all for your input. Unfortunately my very old car packed up two days ago and the father, understandably, is not keen to pay for a a new car as well as a new bike.

I appreciate all the help!
