How's the response been in terms of entries so far? Trying to get a team together, but don't want to do it if there's only going to be a couple of other teams.

Four of us entered yesterday, but after much consideration we are all going solo - too much of a risk that a bike or rider breaks down totally, and then your effort is not official.

Pack rules though dictate that we stick together @ all times!!!

Three months of hard training lying in wait for us though - this will be no easy feat. Hitting Ouberg Pass at about 180km in the dark - nuff said!!

To all those who did this race ...... well done ! What a monster of a race, very very tough but awesome. I think a couple of people (myself included) under estimated the route based on profile and suffered. 180km of hard work to get to one of the hardest climbs I have ever done.

Great work by the organisers too, definitely back again next year !!!!

Definitely back next year!

Perhaps organisers need to shift date so it doesn't clash with Jhb2C as this takes away part of their field.

It was a day all of us will remember forever!

Yebo, and after the monster climb, another 50km of undulations before the end.

Brilliant, will definitely be back next year !

So it seems that it was successful enough to be repeated. I didn't think the route justified the distance, ie. I would have put more scenery into it, and was quite surprised to see that it was pieter van wyk's baby since the gravel travel is so different.

did you guys enjoy the route, or was it just a bit of a sufferfest grinding out the miles?

maybe i'll give it a crack next year

Definitedly worth repeating and I think a great success. Pace and nutrition were the most important, and we had good fun along the route as well. Interesting to see how some guys who started too fast slowly got caught up and eventully were the ones suffering the most. Ouberg and the night ride was a newbie for me personally, and the last 50 km was much tougher than thought looking at the route elevation chart. The TK medal is one of the "must haves" in anyone book I would say.

For scenic go Sani2C - this is just plain effort and grind, but the satisfaction of reaching Sutherland makes it worth every drop of sweat.

Yip, no green gras and 4legged katte where I was riding............................probably slipped in. Nearest thing to a rooikat was the girl with the Landie at the bottem of Ouberg Pass...........
