Socks - What you look for and prefer in a sock?

Hi Guys

 

I have just uploaded a number of different socks to the classified section I got from a contact I picked up in Italy. I am wanting to get some more stock over so please let me know what you would want to see "on the shelves?" Socks are not typically cheap that I import, more of the speciality socks that cost a bit, but if you would like to see a more budget sock or even a really nice sock like the Marino Wool Socks let me know and I will try source.

Some nice socks you have there. A good pair of socks goes a long way. I have de feet/assos/garneau socks and out of all of them i must say i prefer the de feet socks. It is a nice length (i like a relatively high sock) and really comfortable. I would not mind trying a pair of castelli socks. I like the rest of their clothes. Do you have a shop?

No shop. I made some good contacts when I raced overseas and just buy for myself when I need and get some extra whilst I am at it which I sell at a small markup in order to "sponsor" my cycling. Expensive hobby we have here.

I like the look of the socks you have BUT not the size - I am one of the lager footed group of people - Eu48.

 

I prefer a low cut sock - I train with secret socks and race with socks just above the ankles.

I look for a sock that covers the foot, and stops somewhere above the ankle, and below the knee.

 

Those free socks in race goodie bags do me just fine.

Guess that depends on the wearer, I know guys who spend 4-5K on a pair of shoes just for the look, so a nice pair of socks would surely not be too pricy at 100 or so bucks.

 

If you really keen though I can get you a pair of Marino Wool Castelli for 16pounds plus 54% import duties and postage. Now that is crazy! But hey, you get guys who buy them.

I must say i will rather pay R100+ for a good pair of socks than R25 for a pair of falke's. There is something special in pulling a quality pair of socks over your foot. You can immediately feel it. Wont make you faster and you will still suffer on the bike but at least you will look good doing it

If the price suites you, I would suggest some of the Castelli 44-47 as they will fit especially if you like the low cut. I wear a 44, but wear the 41-43 wihout stretch. The 44-47 is a bit big on my foot, but the ankle is just right. The 44-47 should be good for you.

I would say they are a mid height sock. Not as high as the De Feet I have seen. See pic. Will check on De Feet, but from those I have seen they are not cheap. But nice!

I only use falke socks, running, riding or chilling.

Willing to try something new though, they get holes fast from sliding around on the floor
