Nokian tyres?

Hey Guys

 

Anyone heard of or have any information on Nokian tyres? ive never come across them. My tyres need replacing and ive been offered brand new Nokian Gazza NBX lite 2.2??? for R300 a pop. Seems pretty good for high rolling less resistant tubeless tyres??? any info would be appreciated, shot.

Decent enough tyres, became well known here when Cycles Africa started importing them a while back. 3.0 Nokian Gazzalodis were monstrous.

Nokian is a Finnish rubber and cable company zillions of years old.

 

Makes all sorts of tyres for all sorts of vehicles.

 

My all-time favourite Nokians are steel-studded for riding on ice. One day I'll find a use for them.

 

I've had Nokian MTB tyres and they were fine and well-priced.

I remember back in the day when i was doing downhill, the gazzalodis were the tyres to have (if they would fit in your bike!)

Bought a GT for my wife about 5 years ago, it came new with Nokian tyres. Seems to be the best lasting tyres I've ever come across - they are still in use with almost 100% of the tread left - OK, I admit it, she only rides once or twice a year.

Mate of mine made his own frames, called them "Viggen" built one just to accommodate one of those tyres. Good times

Those 3 inch Gazzalodies weighed about 2 kg each! Never could find a frame that would take one on the back...
