TBH I've got a Garmin Edge 500 and so far I think know my CS 400 and polar personal trainer software outperforms it (obviously excluding the mapping function, but then i dont usualy worry about seeing where i just rode on a map).

BTW what great garmin software do you use for your downloaded data, or do you use some other non garmin software?

I will never buy a Polar product EVER AGAIN!

I paid R2199 for I have a Polar FT60 watch that cant do most things I wanted to do with it. Unfortunately the Polar FT60 has left me with an empty heart and pocket. I am so upset with my purchase,In fact I am devastated.

1.Export your Heart rate.

You are unable to export your heart rate data like most other HRMs can do (inlcuding no name branded watches) to websites like run keeper.

http://forum.polar.fi/showthread.php?t=8874

2. Unable to View heart rate at exact points through your exercise.

You would think that if you paid R2199 for a polar watch you would be able to view your heart rate thought your workout on a graph showing you exactly when your heart rate was up or down however this is not possible even though much older HRMs can do this. It can only tell you your average and maximum heart rate.

http://forum.polar.fi/showthread.php?t=2240

3.Uploading Data from Watch to Website never works as Website is always down.

I have been able to successfully upload my training only once, Every other time the Polar website has been down.

http://forum.polar.fi/showthread.php?t=22185

4.The Exercise watch has NO Stop Watch?!

Fed up with my runs I decided I would just use it to record my breaks in between sets at the gym. The watch has no Stop watch or timer whats so ever.

http://forum.polar.fi/showthread.php?p=33924

Sorry for your situation, did you consider that perhaps you bought the wrong watch for what you want to do?

No ones grading you, but putting your point of view across in a intelligent manner will get you better results.

Great Garmin software

No such software exists! The units are great, reliable and just awesome but their freeware pretty much suck. They have a website similar to polar, called, Garmin Disconnect. It is basic and will give you some but not all the info you need if you are serious about your training.

There is an off-line type of version, called Garmin Trying Centre. But be warn this requires a lot a patients and Nothing can be customised to your liking.

If, like me, you want to Annalize your workouts in detail, customise settings and like graphs and stats, you are going to have to look beyond the Garmin scope.

I use Sport Tracks and love it! It is user friendly, can be customised to your liking, gives you reports on things you could not even dream of.

The thing that got me hooked initially was equipment tracking. At any point in time I can tell you how many km's I have on what chain, cassette etc. on what bike. How many times, km's or hours it has been used.

There are also developers writing plugins, so if you want something specifically done, just ask. You can for instance compare your heart rate readings of two different rides on one graph ... Too much cool stuff to mention!

It is compatible with most gps or training devices, so you import directly to it on your pc (no online uploads) from your Garmin, Polar, Bryton, whatever.

It cost around $30 for the full version and is worth ever cent.

HA! JA you see, at least polars software works.

Ok jokes aside I have not tried Sports Tracks yet, but will do that once i get out of winter mode and back to some outdoor training in a few months.

For me I like the polar training log (Calandar) function which I use to keep track of times, distances, metres climbed and HR zones, other than that I dont really use / need more stuff.

I got my edge 500 in July and have used it similtanously with my CS400 and found that the instant speed reading fluctuates (drops slower) a lot which irritates me no end. All my riding last year was on my mtb and i go through a lot of forested areas and as soon as the garmin gets into the shade of a tree the instant speed reading starts to drop off and my HR spikes into the red moer range....

But ja other than that the garmin is great and even better if use a power meter and deep end analyzing

LOL no not like that

Kind of like going off the deep end...

1. Lit. to jump into a swimming pool where the water is over one's head and one needs to be able to swim You are still only learning to swim.

2. Fig. to become deeply involved (with someone or something) before one is ready.

3. Fig. to act irrationally, following one's emotions or fantasies.

Jy is lucky. Ek dink as my een gewerk het sou hy wonderlik gewees het. Hy het al die basiese goed wat jy nodig het.

Lyk my joune het baie Bad Luck. (Verskoon my spelling I'm not good in this.

But thanks for the tips.

I've got an F7 that works with Flowlink pad. Works like a charm, but the CS300 Weblink that works on sound (sounds like a 1998 modem on helium) sucks. First ever Polar I had I never downloaded a thing for that reason. When I bought CS300 I ASSUMED it was Flowlink. Dumb me for not checking. It's a super watch and HR monitor. But Discovery Vitality only allows you to link Polar. Wish they would accept Runkeeper or Endomundo. RCX5 looking good to me.
