I received an update yesterday on the cyclist who collided with the bike on Sunday.

He is still in critical but stable condition in ICU under heavy sedation. They operated on his arm, which has been severely damaged – the chance of an amputation is still on the cards.

He has a number of broken ribs, and as a result of this his lungs were punctured, but his liver and kidneys suffered the most damage.

Please keep him in your thoughts.

thanks for the update,

udxcob informed me that Chris's wife sms'ed him that Chris came to. He does not recognise anybody due to sedation, but he is moving (what, and to what extend I do not know).

That is very good news.

Hi guys

Been following the accident particularly on Chris's progress I must say everytime I read another report on the accident it sends shivers down my spine..it could quite easily been me lying in Tht hospital bed. I suggest we show the cyclist solidarity by arranging a group ride to Constantiaberg the first Saturday he is out of icu. Also collect donations on the day. Tell all your buddies and we show our suport..any thoughts?

Its all about a chain of events..guy shouts meezo goes down with others causing obstruction Chris passes the bunch in spirit of cycling looks over to see all ok with lapse of concentration wrong side of road and has accident. Had initial accident not occurred Chris would hv been with his family today. As I said earlier it could easily been me and I'm sure 99% of other riders..so we need to show our support.

How is Chris? Any details on his recovery/ condition?

Just reading this makes you realise how quickly things in life can change, I hope that all are recovering well and will be back on their bikes soon

Last I heard (yesterday) he came to, but still heavily sedated.(did not recognise anybody (his wife was with him)) He was moving around a bit.

So there is at least an improvement.

Hi Guys

Some of you will find your posts edited, and some of you will find posts unapproved. This is to keep this thread focused and on topic. Apologies to all that were only responding, but this topic will be kept on line. There is a thread to pass comment about riders skills etc.
