So what you are saying is that we should all disregard the laws because most people do it?

Which means that every day, it simply gets worse.

Sorry, but I disagree with you. Even if I am the last person doing it, whether I drive or ride I will obey the rules of the road.

Not at all what I am saying.

I say if I feel it is SAFER to go though a red light, don't judge me or tell me I make motorist irate. That are allteady. I am not saying to break the law, I say that due to the layout of certain roads I HAVE to cross when all cars ate waiting for the light else I get killed.

I am also saying that we are wasting our time posting on the hub how cyclist irate motorist. They are lawless irate and irritated allready and I do not think that cyclist are making it any worse

Everyone needs to stop labelling themselves cyclists, motorists, MTB'ers, etc and realise that we are first and foremost human beings. Once we have done that and then start having respect for each other then we will start seeing a real attitude change in all aspects of our lives and the people around us.

The problem is not cyclists nor motorist, it's South African's with their "I don't give a ****" attitude and their lack of fear for the law and respect for others.

100% correct. That is what I mean. This counties laws are a joke when it comes to enforcing.

If you do not obey the traffic laws, you are part of the problem. If you do not respect first, how can you be respected?

So many times I ask myself the question when seeing mother with children in their vehicles, not even secured in a child seat, and still breaking the traffic laws, what example they (we) are setting to our kids?

Are we teaching them to respect by being the example, or are we teaching them to become as lawless as the rest, because everyone is doing it...??

I was not part of the problem this morning just an observer? And stil they do what they want. So how are you going to change the attitude of your fellow south Africans ?

yet again, Niner, you've lumped yourself into the same bracket as those motorists you so loathe - an inconsiderate, law-breaking and cyclist endangering chop.

Yes, motorists (generally) drive like tonsils. But that is no justification for acting like a prize chop yourself, and invite further hatred towards our user group.

to say again though - just because someone else is doing something wrong, it does not mean that you have to do it as well, or should not point out that what they are doing is wrong. Just like I do when I see someone driving in the yellow lane on the M5 / M3 / M whatever, parking in disabled bays and non indication, to name a few.

If I see you riding through a red light, I will take you to task. For the simple reason that I am a cyclist as well, and your actions have a direct effect on how I, as a cyclist, am seen by motorists. I have to look after myself, after all...

Just so everyone knows, this comment is directed at me..

I say was that if we want a better perception of this sport from the motorists, lets start the process by reeling in those who are making it worse for us.. i.e feeble excuses for why you will purposely attract bad publicity to this sport by disregarding the motorists and the law..

I don't have to say anything further. Just read his comment again!
