Hey yeah, I remember speaking to you at the finish :) Yep, that was us, in City Cycling Club kit. We were a little stuffed at the finish, and famished as hell, but that's what happens when you only have 2 bottles of plain water, 2 gels and roll of Super C's between you in a race. We saved the gels and Super C's for OKW :D

Great.

Pity about your adventures along the way.

great effort on staying away for so long, pity one of the cyclelab guys hunted you down up okw and brought the bunch with him - maybe if you had one more pair of legs in the break? (um, not me)

Ye, Pete Calitz was despatched to the front bottom of ou kaaps. Apparently he pretty much destroyed our 1:40 advantage single handedly :'(

At the Rollercoaster me and Robby had him in the break with us and we stayed away.

Pete is looking quite strong at the moment. Not bad for a tennis player...

WTF! Tjop I say!

You would have loved the ride with the official tandem group. We caught them going past the Prison on the way to Boyes and they sat with for the wind protection - some sat with us up until Ou Kaaps. There was this sexy looking white cannondale tandem with disk brakes

Then traffic tjop he shall be then :) We did find ourselves riding into a bit of wind for the most part, but we kept our heads down. I've seen that Cannondale model around and it is a looker. There is also another white tandem owned by Louis Scholz, the name of which escapes me now, but the thing weighs 11.5Kg !! Compact double front chain rings with belt drive pilot/stoker cranks and carbon everywhere. He rode in our DC tandem team and ate the hills for breakfast, but the downhills and flats weren't so kind against the heavier tandems with bigger cranks. Still a performer though.

We had fun, adventures and all. My pilot is a seasoned trackie, so he's less used to races where you have to turn left or right :D (probably also used to riding without bottles too). Yesterdays race was our 3rd time on the tandem as a pair, and our first race together. Also my first race as a stoker as I normally pilot.

I would say half the guys that beat me...... the other half were the ones that sat in the bunch (like I should have) and conserved their energy for Ou Kaaps <_<

You'd think after this happens every weekend you'd learn your lesson :P

OKW is a great climb.

And how is that final kick in gradient just before the Silvermine Nature Reserve entrance. Eina!

That's where our top 5 split, best place to attack for next years roller coaster and bay city me thinks

The same here...

We gained seconds over that final spike in gradient. Not enough though...

There is one R turn bend that kicks up, then the L turn that veers towards the Cobra finish line...

Kick some VO2 Max there and the gap will be good, if you can.

Good spot for a break, if you legs can follows your mind.

solo descent of Ou Kaaps, hit 81.8Km/h with a cadence of 133rpm at some point.

Ok, so you know I weigh 60kg, I hit 76.7km/h going down, with restricted gears (52-16)

Unfortunately my cadence magnet moved during the wellington ride and didn't pick anything up, but i'm sure it must have been close to 150...

I come in at 72 and a bit.

Could only get 75 km/h and I was trying to keep away from the chasing wolves. So, really going for it.

The problem wasn't the time we didn't have, it was the pace line that was broken.

The pace line did fall apart at some point after a promising opening whirl.

I remember it circling from the L to R, then R to L...
