According to some studies Glutamine can help prevent muscle catabolism, promote muscle anabolism, enhances the immune system, and enhances glycogen storage.

Anyone taking L-Glutamine supplements?

L-Glutamine promotes growth hormone. Was taking it last year for about 5 weeks. Only noticed that my hair started growing thick and fast. Unfortunately also startinggettingnheadaches from it, so had to stop.

I swear by it. If I do not take it after a long run or cycle I seem to hurt a lot more and a lot longer. When I do take it I have no sore muscles the next day.

I take a teaspoon every night before bed.

Took more at one stage (when training for IM) - but then developed an allergic reaction! So back to 1 teaspoon...

I'm also one of the minority who it gives chronic headaches too - shame, because the energy drinks I tried with it in worked well.

I Take PURE's Glutamine and Solgar Whey mixed into a Banana smoothy with Nutella or Peanut Butter for Flavour as Glutamine tastses vile. Take MSM capsules also. There is some benefits for recovery, but stretching etc also helps

While we're on this topic...I've started taking the Solgar capsules of L-Gltamine.

When is best to take the stuff. Should one take it everyday as a vitamin type thing or should you rather take an increased amount only after your exercise?? Should it be taken morning or night??

I'll let you know what I think about it.

L-glutamine works for reducing pain and I would like to believe that less pain means better recovery.

I take it only after hard efforts or when I (still) have sore muscles the next day.

It is recommended to take a serving before bed time... (thats when you recover the most and it works the best). I also like to take a serving after a workout

I also take it, normaly before going to sleep. Works well. it helps with recovery and healing. i don't always take it. It seems to work well if one takes it for at least 10 days or so.

In some countries (i know of Germany and Japan) they use it 5 days before and after a surgical operation as it helps with the healing.
