Guys my opinion is work diectly through your club and you will have your license within +- 15days. Let the online system be bedded down properly and all the issues at hand will be dealt with to ensure a smooth system is in place. The intention of the online system is good however the workings and confirmations from administrators will eventually dictate the speed at which the system will operate.( Pity the clubs who has a lazy/slow secretary to confirm your memberships). Mnr COO keep up the good work, don't forget your neg. towards end Feb.

I am afraid Willehond is right - there are some issues still...data however is perfectly captured, and 100's have been handled successfully...displays are erroneous and confirmation mails (which you can use as evidence that you applied) are still outstanding....

I am starting a roadshow around the country, next week Tuesday, and would implore, those interested, to ensure that your province and club make time to see me. The purpose is to demonstrate the membership management components, discuss the final issues around seeding, and a few others. Myrace will be with me to handle specific queries.

Next week 15-18

Pta: Wednesday evening

Jhb: Thursday whole day

Fri: Mpumalanga

I am glad seeding is getting attention.....I want to know when each will get timed and seeded as it should.....Ladies per catagory avaoiding a lady on the back of a tandem getting a seeding compared with Elite ladies, tandem riders getting great seedings but can not hold their own on a single bike and dangerous when seeded in a race with actual A bunch riders for instance.

If you enter to race Elite then your race seeding should be calculated on the Elite winner's time on the day, Vets 30+ calculated on Vets winner on the day and not the Elite winner.

We are all riding our own races on the day, the Elites may have a fast and furious race on the day but Vets decide to ride tactical and slow, then we can not be receiving a race seeding based on the Elite winner time for the day.

You also find Vets riders like Malcolm Lange, Nick White who ride ELITES, but he is ranked Nationally in our catagory in other words i might rightfully be ranked 10th in the country in Vets 30+ but it is documented that i am 20th due to the Elites ranked under Vets if they are in my age group.

NOT FAIR!  What is the response please, what will be done?

BIGBOY, I beg to differ (purely because I can!).  I don't want to be ranked to be 10th when I am actually the 20th fastest guy in his 30's!    If Malcolm beats other guys he should be ranked above me even if stoops as low as to riding in the vets cats (gasp!).

I agree on the tandem results.  They are meanongless and should only count towards tandem seedings.  Using two people's power is not fair on other riders.  Also getting a seeding based on a short ride should not happen (especially PPA rides!).  In Die Burger we had an overweight loudmouth on his old mtb with knobblies in the subvets group who clearly go their through doing short rides.  Pure nonsense.  Only long rides should count, but in relation to the winners time.  If you want an Elites seeding go and ride Elites.  In the WCape, most subvets are B seeded riders, because that is how the time relates to Elites.  Quite fair.  Once you ride in normal rides (without age categories), you get the chance to work hard and improve your seeding.  Try it, it is quite satisfying to achieve!

Willehond,

I agree about Malcolm or Nick being the better in their age group, but you are missing my point. If we wanted to race pro or Vets so be it, but we are competing in our own age group, and definately do not race the same speed, or tactics or have the huge teams present normally responsible for pushing the race time.

All I am saying is rank and rate each age / catagory as is fair, and like you say tandem entries should be seeded under tandem seeing times and vice versa and tandem race times witheld from single bike entries.

I personally know a number of tandem riders with under 10 seeding index who can not hold their own or even ride a sub 3 race at 94.7 on their single bikes.

Not only does it interfere with novice riders sitting in fast bunches and causing pile-ups but it is frustrating.

We are going of the point and creating a number of subjects, all we want to see is that each licensed catogory receive it's due. Malcolm and Nick and so on achieve results in Elites and want to be ranked number 1, 2, 3, etc, and Marco and Craig and so on want to be ranked number 1,2,and so in in the catagory they wish to compete in being their age.

I dont think where you are ranked is that important, if Marco, Craig win their races its more important than a ranking. Hunter isnt the no 1 ranked rider in SA acc to supercycling. But i dont hink thats something for Latrinus to sort out next week. Maybe the different seeding people and timing people systems must be in sync, so if you arrive from Gauteng for a race in the Cape, you must race in the right bunch. So you must have the same seeding all over.

It will be a huge step forward if the two timing companies agree to work on the same rules as we the cyclist will benefit and they will gain our respect once again. I have confidence our COO bringing will achieve some success on this point, as it will benefit all cyclist fom Limpopo down to the Cape.

Bigboy why not take up your proposals with the two companies as it appears to have sound basis."C'mon do something for youe fellow cyclist"

I cannot fault BB for what he is trying to do. However it is for every one of us CYclists to push the right buttons and request the right things until WE are happy.

Trying to get one timing company to get their act together has proven impossible, imagine both. It is almost as if one wishes there will be a 3rd player coming soon so we can have some results like what's happening in the telephone industry.
